DonRocks
I'm drinking a 2009 Simi Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley this evening. This winery was founded in 1876 by two Italian brothers and has since gone through several permutations of sales, ending up in the hands of Constellations Brands, the largest wine owner in the world. Purchased at Giant for ($25.19 with a Bonus Card - not by me: I didn't even know what a Bonus Card was), it's a very drinkable Cabernet, smooth and lush. A pleasant wine to have with a steak or lasagna. By itself, you could derive some soft Cabernet Sauvignon pleasure, but it's probably better enjoyed with food, including nuts and cheeses. I like it. To those who think I hate mass-produced California wines: You're right! But I've been drinking a fair share of them lately, and have enjoyed some of them. No, they're not "serious" wines by any means, but they have their own pleasures. That said, if you think about it, $25 is a lot of money for something approaching mass production (Simi makes about 2 million bottles of wine a year). Joe H
$16.97 a bottle from Total. The link shows their Chantilly store.
zoramargolis
I have enjoyed Simi Alexander Valley cabs many times, but haven't had one recently. In the past, I have bought it at Costco, but lately I have only seen their regular Sonoma cab there, which isn't as good.
beachgirl54
I was in Sonoma a few years back and went to Simi for a tasting. I had a rose there that I've never found in the greater DC area that was wonderful. And their port wasn't half bad either but the schmucko ex-boyfriend got that bottle in the split. DonRocks
Is there any other kind of ex-boyfriend?
