Maryland Live! now has live table games. I don't always gamble, but when I do, I prefer a nice casino. A nice casino means some place with a non-smoking section, good ventilation, good food, good free booze, and for around here - pet friendly lodging nearby. I went to the Hollywood Casino in Charlestown some time ago - stayed at the Turf Motel which provided shuttle service to the casino. The food sucked, the casino was smoky, and full of people who don't know how to play blackjack. Would Maryland Live offer a better experience? The dining selection includes Bobby's Burger Palace, Cheesecake Factory, Phillips Seafood, the Prime Rib and a generic Asian joint.

Maryland Live is literally most of the ground floor of a parking garage adjacent to Arundel Mills Mall. My wife and I deadhead to the Borgata in Atlantic City every three months and stay there while having dinner at Chef Vola's. We will never go back to Maryland Live.

Hollywood Casino (WV not MD) was another bad experience. Delaware Park and Harrah's in Chester, PA south of Philly have table games and are decent casinos. Still, we like the Borgata and believe it delivers a "Vegas like" experience that I would compare to, say, the Mirage. I would really drive the extra hour and stay at the Borgata which is VERY GOOD about giving free rooms on most weeknights. I'm defining very good as, if you play slots and go twice, enroll in their club and play a quarter machine (limiting loss to, say 150 or so) it will probably qualify you for a free room on a future visit. A lot of future visits.

I am not a fan of any other A. C. casino hotel.

I was at Maryland Live about a month ago and the food choices are pretty abysmal. Bobby's Burger Palace had a line a mile long and was moving at a snail's pace. We didn't want Cheesecake Factory or Prime Rib. We ended up at the noodle place which was mediocre at best. My husband had fried fish from Phillip's Seafood, which was pretty awful. My recommendation is to eat before you go.
