Diners can earn points through the app every time they eat out at a participating restaurant or share their experience with a social media shout out. Diners who reach 10 points can earn a $25 gift card from a participating restaurant. “With our inaugural Restaurant Week campaign, we worked with the city’s culinary scene to put Fairfax City on the map as a top regional dining destination. I am grateful that the Fairfax City Economic Development Authority and the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce are once again partnering to share the story of our city’s ever-growing restaurant scene” said City of Fairfax Economic Development Director Chris Bruno. “This new annual tradition highlights the vibrancy of our local restaurant community and communicates the uniqueness of Fairfax City to the entire metropolitan area.” Following the overwhelming success of last year’s Restaurant Week program, the Fairfax City Economic Development Authority and the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce partnered to form the 2019 Restaurant Week Committee, a consortium working with consultants and the restaurant community to plan and carry out the event. The committee’s goals are to expose visitors and area residents to Fairfax City, a regional dining destination, to increase the number of diners each restaurant welcomes during this week, and to increase brand recognition for participating restaurants. Diners are encouraged to join the conversation about 2019 Restaurant Week on social media by using #FairfaxCityEats when posting about the event, tagging the City’s Economic Development Authority on Facebook @FairfaxCityEDA, and on Twitter @CityofFairfaxVA. 2. Wanted to make a Dine LA / Restaurant week thread. Any places people are excited to try? Tried Lucques for lunch yesterday. It's kind of interesting, a good chef, really tasty meals, but it's in a high priced location in WeHo (and its reflected in the dish prices); and all of the dining energy seems to have moved elsewhere in town. For appetizers, a cold squash soup (it had a surprising zing of citrus that I loved) / salad were available for desert, and a white fish fillet in beurre blanc, and summer vegetables on top of polenta and quinoa were the lunch entrees. Both were really tasty. So, I was impressed, where I'm generally not impressed by the high dining plates here, dishes were tasty and really good, and it makes me want to go back.
  3. York Restaurant Week, Feb 20-27, 2017 and here I thought this was only a Beltway tradition
  4. Restaurant Week for January 2016 starts tomorrow, Jan. 25, and runs through Jan. 31, 2016 (not including restaurants who are extending.) Lunch is $22 and dinner is $35 (I know, what happened to the cents = year?) Participating restaurants are listed here (if you click on the restaurant, there's a link to download the pdf menu if available).

  6. In the early days of RW, I tended to go to 6-8 new restaurants that I had not tried or that I wanted to get a deal from. The original purpose was to try new places during a "slow" time. Win Win for owners, chefs and customers. These were fun, often dining with the DR crowd and a great deal to try new places or see old favorites. After a few years, I started to avoid RW because of the crowds and that the menus were often dumbed down to support the mods or contained numerous upcharges, of course there were (and still are ) exceptions to this. In addition, RW went from one week to weeks in Baltimore, Bethesda, Rockville...etc etc. I remember Dean Gold would run the special all month and other places for a extra week or so. Lots of great stories and horror stories if you look in past posts (each week would have its own thread where we would list was was the special and post our experience). Well, we went to ORSO last night and had a great RW meal, lunch today was at Grapeseed (which had lots of guests) and we may hit a place or two more before the week is out. So where did you dine or avoid dining this week?
  7. March 19 - March 29, 2012 is "Restaurant Week" throughout Brooklyn: Dine In Brooklyn. 195 participating restaurants, many solid choices, reasonably priced: Three course lunch for $20.12, dinner for $25.00. I usually take how a restaurant fares during restaurant week with a grain of salt, but it is a cheap way to check out new places, and then return for a full experience. Looking forward to trying Lunetta in Boerum Hill, and Blue Ribbon Brooklyn in Park Slope is probably a good bet as well.
