DonRocks
I'm sorry to inform people that Prince passed away today. This article has been confirmed by multiple sources. "Prince Dead at 57" on tmz.com I have a friend who may have been Prince's biggest fan, and I'm not exaggerating. My deepest condolences, LF.
Bart
I saw him once in the early 90s (or so) at the Capitol Centre (formerly) in Landover, MD. At some point during the show he traded instruments with every other musician on stage and blew each one of them away. His bass solo was by far the best bass playing we heard all night. Same for the keyboards. Same for the drums. My memory is a little fuzzy about this part, but he may have even played a sax solo. As he moved from instrument to instrument, absolutely ripping it up on each one, I just stood there in jaw dropping awe of the raw power and virtuosity on display. Bart
I don't have access to youtube right now, but last night I found a pretty cool cover of him doing Whole Lotta Love. Very funky. I was mostly tuning in to see how he handled the killer Jimmy Page guitar solo near the end.........let's just say it was different.
