Let me reiterate, no where else in this city do you get a heaping plateful of spicy wood-grilled chicken wings ($3.50), a generous portion of delicate fried oysters ($4) and so many stiff drinks, all the while being entertained by pretty yellow fishies in a glowing tank. Johnny’s my friend.

That's rancid!! In China, that yuppie-surfer thong would bring about huge epidemic. The filthy soles of shoes are huge culprits in certain parts of world. Hungry?

Voodoo on the Teamster Ten...
and priming for the Vegas swimming pool culture.
Purge with me.

I wish people would start blogging less. I can't follow it. Shouldn't that dude be in the kitchen or fixing those gray walls? It's just silly.
Best news I've heard all day. Someone wasting their time to blog about me.Who are you? I like your bear.

If you're like everyone else and enjoyed Big Night, you should catch it this weekend at AFI SIlver in Silver Spring. Then you can get all hungry and go to someone's house and eat a bunch of pasta and shit.

Congratulation to Chef Frank Ruta on the James Beard nomination.
This is the most sensible news I've ever heard! Finally, I say. Congrats!

All too seldom, Mrs. Dente and I head over to Bistro D'Oc for dinner followed by an indie flick at E Street Cinemas. It seems like such a natural combination for an enjoyable night out.
Here are some others I've found worthwhile:
Oysters at Old Ebbitt followed by a walk down to the Ellipse for the Christmas lights.
Cassoulet at Le Refuge on a snowy night followed by too many Irish Coffees at Murphy's.
Tarte Tartin at Bistro Lepic and ta-tas at Good Guys.
Do you and yours have any favorites? Or do you recall a memorable night out that included a nearby destination of some sort?
[apologies if this has been covered before, but I don't recall it]
For any occasion, I really like the thought of Central (bar)/E Street theater. Or Firefly/Tabard. Shitty Wizards game/Poste(or Proof one of these days). Also, if you drive, it's a good idea to have a roadie in hand, use valet and seat warmers.

Historically, why are there so many Irish pubs by Union Station? Anyway, an Irish person just told me Fado had good fish and chips. True?

Royal Mile Pub?

Many of the places I know are upscale. Kinkead's has really good ones. Johnny's Half Shell should have them (they need to practice for fish taco time). Ummmmm. It's slim pickings, I guess.

I'm gonna tell you something, but don't you dare tell a soul. Can I count on you?
Promise.
Yeah?
Cross my heart and hope to die.
Okay, Well you know the Whole Foods deli, salad bar, sushi, pre-packaged stuff, you know that stuff? I'm talking about the egg salad, the meatballs, the $19.99/lb salmon special, the fried brown rice, the fireworks slaw, the chicken salad, the mushroom risotto balls, the crab cakes, the bowtie bullshit pasta, the collard greens, the mashed potatoes, the brown rice avocado roll et al, the tomato bisque, the hot bar with the willowing cod, and sorry broccoli that wishes it was uncooked and still wearing that purple rubber band, the funky fennel salad, the Israeli couscous....You know that stuff?
Yes, yes. What do you want from me??
I want you to look me in the eye and tell me you know how vile it is. Do it now.
I can't!
Yes, you can. I said now!
Please don't make me do it. Please, no

Johnny told Roll Call he hoped the move would happen by June. Also, it's now confirmed that La Colline Express is turning into a taco stand, according to the story:
"Meanwhile, the old La Colline Express carry-out will likely become a taqueria, with Juanita DeFlores, a longtime cook at Cashion’s Eat Place and a Salvadorean by birth, brought over as a business partner in the venture. Fulchino says the carry-out would likely serve breakfast and lunch tacos and be open on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m."
Very cool.
It's true! Woo Hoo. No Columbia Heights location at all (sorry I used to live around there miserably).

If I got complementary drugs with this designer water...
Then I'd be really happy like Canada people.

Find someplace that has great French onion soup or moules...
or get lucky and find friends like mine that make homemade French onion soup and share wonderful wines on snowy nights..and never forget you.
My whole day is based around merely consuming this soup. Busy day!

Caucus Room? Johnny's has a room, too.

Has anyone else had the catfish wrap lately?
I saw the catfish wrap (obviously I was at IOTA) last night and thought it looked delicious. My friend pointed at it and said, "Mmmmmmmm," and I nodded. But I guess you can't judge a wrap by looks...

Sorry. A little anxious with my double clicking.

I can't believe there are 23 posts and not one of them says : "YOU ARE A STUPID WEENIE", because you are a stupid weenie for asking this question.
Did anyone say Pregresso Soup? Call moi what you will, I like them blue cans when I'm stuck in the house. You can make up the difference with a grilled cheese sandwich made with yuppie bread and snotty cheese.

Welcome to the Hotel California.
As of this morning, I can't log out either! I reported the problem to Invision and will see what they say.
Berry exciting news: I can log out now (but I choose to stay in, of course).
