A Baltimore restaurant group apologizes to a black woman and son for unequally enforcing its dress code, by Emily Heil, June 23, 2020, on washingtonpost.com. When I see that a restaurant has a dress code I invariably choose another restaurant, although I did once don a jacket to dine at Commander's Palace.

He continues his "defense" in this story on the local Fox affiliate. He appears to adhere to the Mike Isabella school of public relations management.

There's also Killer ESP in Old Town.
I've never been, but I've heard the service is friendly, but very slow; their WiFi is reportedly even slower. In other words, it's arch-hipster.
They use Stumptown Roasters from Portland, and are a legitimate Independent Coffee House.

Yeah. It's a little sad for me - Fred Parker is a personal friend, and he is as nice a guy as you'll meet. His brother Jim was pretty hands-on at Clarendon, and he passed a few years ago. (Not for nothing, but Jim was just like Fred.)

A lot of good people lost their jobs permanently. I think that is the story.

So, it appears that all the threads are now read only except for "WTF" which, apparently, has allowed me to start a new thread 🤯.
At any rate, before this too ceases to allow comments, let me use the opportunity to thank Don for creating & maintaining this board over the years and to thank the rest of you for providing some interesting and entertaining commentary. I'll miss this forum, even though I remain active on several others & get some kicks that way.
By the way, I think the messenger function is still working as well.
And, just in case Don is only carrying out a lengthy April Fool's joke... well, ya got me. 😡
You don't know what you got ‘till its gone.

It's 12:25am on the 15th. 🤔
When the Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service announced that the federal income tax filing due date is automatically extended from April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020, Don no doubt changed the effective date of read-only mode to the same date to remain in lock step.

Campono website says it is permanently closed. That's a loss. For what it was, it was pretty darn good at it.
QuoteIt is with great disappointment and sadness that we regret to announce that:CAMPONO IS CLOSED PERMANENTLY.
We have truly enjoyed serving this wonderful community these last four and a half years! We have put our heart and soul into creating great food, friendly service and a warm place to gather with friends and colleagues.
We can only hope that we accomplished that goal!
In addition to the mandatory shut down for the Covid19 outbreak and slower times at both the Kennedy Center and our building, the Landlord has exercised their legal right and directed us to vacate the building by the end of April.
We have had our current lease/agreement in place with the Landlord since 2017. They requested additional monetary contributions in order for us to maintain occupancy and extend our lease. Given our current business model, we are unable to commit to the financial burden of this request. After months of discussions and negotiations they have decide to terminate the month-to-month lease we have been operating under since January of 2019.
If we had been able to continue to operate under our current agreement, it still would have been a difficult road to re-opening (as many, many restaurants are going to soon be struggling with themselves). However, we would have been rigorously exploring any and all options available to us once this shut-down is over: low-interest loans, grants and subsidies, to name just a few.
Thank you to all our wonderful, caring and supportive customers over the years…we will miss each and every one of you.
Best of luck to you all and stay safe and strong!
Brian, Tracy, Dante, Freddy, Johnny, Erikxon, Shanil and the entire Campono staff!

My hubby does not like the smell of coffee and it's my preferred source of caffeine. This is not a problem normally, as I have coffee at work. However, working from home, this does pose a bit of a dilemma. My solution has been 1 packet of Maxim's instant coffee with up to 1 teaspoon of Medaglia d'Oro® Espresso Instant Coffee and topped off with Trader Joe's Turmeric Ginger Coconut Beverage. I've been doing this for the past week and I've got to say while not perfect, it is working for giving me my morning fix.

I thought this was just going to be a crappy corona-birthday, but we celebrated by ordering from Claritytogo.com. It was just wonderful! We opted for the 3 course dinner for $35 which is a great deal. The menu changes a bit day by day, but if they have halibut, I would definitely recommend it. Our fish dish included gnocchi, beets, and spinach and was delicious. Actually everything was really flavorful. They provide great dinner rolls. We received an extra birthday dessert as well. And they gave us cute little cookies which we haven't eaten yet. I'd strongly recommend as the ordering, pick up, everything was super easy.
Those cookies are farking good.
