Hat Trick

Hat Trick (4/123)

  1. For Bourbon: the Willett "HoneyBunny" at Bourbon in Glover Park. So. Good.
  2. The place next to Las Placitas (used to be called Szechuan House) was far better than any other Chinese place in the area. I think it's called the Fusion Cafe now, but they'll still do normal Chinese takeout if you order by phone or from the bar. The rest of their menu is pretty decent as well. Hunan King did make their own Egg- and Spring Rolls, which will be missed.
  3. Hello, all! My name is Tipp (yes, real name) and I have lived in the Greater Washington area since 1977. We moved to Bethesda from Munich, Germany and I attended Jr. High and HS there. Went to UMD in College Park, then moved to DE, followed by Vail, CO. Finally landed back in the District itself back in '94 and now live in a great neighborhood for young children (mine are 8 & 5) - Chevy Chase, DC - right near the Avalon Theater. I've loved eating good food and drinking well (wine, beer, and cocktails) for as long as I can remember, and since we finally got a good stove (Thermador Dual Fuel - YAY) in August I've been honing my chef's skills, not merely relying on others to scratch my itch. Foodwise I'm a huge fan of Ray's the Steaks, Komi, Zaytinya, and Ceiba. I also love exploring new (to us) restaurants either established or just started. The only cuisine I shy away from is Vegan - I just don't get it. Neighborhood faves are Little Viet Garden in Clarendon, New Big Wong in Chinatown, Sushi Ko in Glover Park - although at those prices it doesn't really qualify, Haad Thai in Penn Quarter, and Vace for Pizza in Cleveland Park. My heart will always have a soft spot for Las Placitas on 8th St., SE - we've been going there regularly (once a month or more) for 15 years. I look forward to discussing my taste bud problem with the rest of you addicts!
