Ugh. We have a Chuy's gift certificate and had been trying to get to the Fairfax outpost. Hope we have a chance to try it at some point.

There are some forces in existence that wouldn't want such a system BECAUSE it would maximize voter participation.

I have not checked the CDC website but read that they have stopped reporting numbers of cases geographically. In case people are wondering where outbreaks are occurring, John Hopkins is continuously updating their GIS database.
That would be Johns Hopkins. 🙂

The Galley in Old Metry and Harbor Seafood out in Kenner (brah) also fall into this most noble of restaurant categories; indeed, ask any industry folk and I would wager that most spend their hard earned time off in establishments such as these (if they choose to go out to eat at all but that’s a whole different topic...)
The crawfish at both are exemplary, also the gumbos, fried things, honestly you can close your eyes and point and it’ll be fantastic (but defitnely the crawfish).
Yall can find me at either, sometimes both, on my hard earned days off
Harbor Seafood is generally my first stop upon arrival at the airport!

It must exist, or there wouldn't be highlight videos.
(Erving is one of only 8 ABA/NBA players with over 30,000 points.)
Some! Not close to comprehensive.

So is this Stately Wang Manor? Sorry, I had to do it.😀

This is a Julius Erving video, but note the "behind-the-back, between-the-legs" pass from Maravich on the very first highlight.
(Note also the facials Erving applied both to Rick Barry and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.)
Great stuff Don! That pass from Pete reminds me of Ernie DiGregorio. If Marvin Barnes hadn't gone down in the first half vs Memphis St in the national semifinal (at which time PC was crushing Memphis), the world would have been treated to an epic final of PC vs UCLA.
It's a shame there's no existing footage of some of the Doctor's best work while he was in the ABA.

Interestingly, Larry Bird's first game in the NBA was the first-ever NBA game where a 3-point shot was made (in other words, Bird had the 3-point shot available to him for his entire career).
On Oct 12, 1979, Chris Ford scored a 3-pointer with 3:48 left in the 1st quarter against the Houston Rockets - the first 3-pointer in NBA history. Rick Barry made one in the same game as well (this was his final season).
That was Pistol Pete Maravich's final season in the NBA and he went 10-15 on 3s. He would have averaged 60 per game in college and 35-40 in the pros with the three-point option.

I'm shocked -- there's still an Austin Grill around? That was a pretty good local chain back in the 90s.

Awww. We ate at Ayse a few years ago when in the area. Was a positive experience but never got back since it's way out of the way for us. Here is what I wrote on Yelp:
"Had an excellent meal at Ayse with the family yesterday. This is probably a 4.5 star review but I'm rounding it up to five since we went at the off-hour of 2 pm and often service and/or food can fall off when you eat at a weird time. On the contrary, we got great service and food that for the most part was really good.
Highlights included the dip sampler (6 for $12, a really good deal), the cheese sampler, the shrimp, the meatballs, the mushrooms, and the carrot fritters. The menu is extensive so it's good to see you can probably throw darts and wind up with good food.
We don't live close enough to make this a regular stop but would definitely revisit when we are back in the Frederick area."- 1

There's also one in Fair Oaks in the Harris Teeter plaza on 50.

I have a good Kinkead's story. Back in the mid-90s, my then-fiancee and I wanted to celebrate our nuptials with a nice family dinner at Kinkead's after we had had a superb meal there. We tried our best to make it happen but were not treated well and gave up (to show how long ago this was, we ended up at Two Quail LOL). Anyway, as email was a new thing, I send a long, detailed, but polite email to the manager expressing my deep disappointment at how we were treated. She responded with an offer for us to have dinner for four on them. We took my sister-in-law and her bf (she is now estranged from my wife for reasons wholly unrelated to the dinner). We had another superb dinner, including a great bottle of Zinfandel, that would have cost us $250 but was, as promised, cost-free. We did leave a huge tip for the servers. So I will always have fond memories of Kinkead's.

I don't shop at WF nearly as much as I did 10 or 20 years ago (Amazon is getting a lot more of my $$ directly to make up for the shortfall 😄) but at least once a year I get to visit my favorite WF, in Portland, ME. That is a big, beautiful, amazing store. Anyone else been?

Hope we get Caps vs Bruins in the Eastern final. They are clearly the two best teams this season. The Bruins issue has been OTs and Shootouts.

Average? That's actually a compliment.
LOL not from me it ain't. To me it means ordinary, inoffensive, won't give you the trots.... I think other chains are far worse -- Olive Garden for one. I remember my first visit to an OG many years ago. I ordered my standby linguini with white clam sauce (I grew up in RI). What I got resembled library paste. I chalked it up to a bad kitchen. Next visit to a different OG, again ordered linguini with white clam sauce. Got the exact same dish of overcooked, gluey mush. "Ok, so that's how it is at the OG, huh? Got it."

The food is not horrible but I don't need to buy five meals at once. The waste has to be massive. Where will tourists keep all the leftovers?
I just added a few comments about the waste potential to the Popville comment thread. That's what pisses me off. The food at CF is perfectly average.

Being of a certain age, when I saw this thread title I thought it would be a guide to eateries on East Baltimore St in Baltimore, where the go-to used to be Polock Johnny's.😂

Yes. Great quality ice cream with good standard flavors and some good creative flavors. Go ask for tastes and you'll probably find several you like. I like the brambleberry. Also there fresh waffle cones or waffle cone pieces are good.
Thanks -- the Brambleberry looks like it's one of the flavors that H-T carries. I will give it a shot!

FWIW, I've noticed Harris Teeter is carrying pints. Just 4 or 5 varieties. I liked the brown butter almond, maybe a *bit* too sweet for me, but maybe I should have exercised some better portion control.
Teeter's ice cream/gelato game is strong. Graeter's from Cincy and Gelato Fiasco from Maine are well represented. I'll surprise my kid with a pint of Jeni's.

While I have never made it to New Haven, I have certainly seen it on TV and have wanted to make a trip to try the clam pie. According to the MoCo Show, in late 2020, a location will open at Montgomery Mall!!!!
While I am a big fan of clam pizza and new pizza options for this area in general, I would be at most cautiously optimistic. They have a location in Warwick RI, which is a lot closer to New Haven (as well as the clam beds), and the reviews are all over the map.

I'm dubious in the short term. The entire space is a ghost town save 12-1. The new steak frites place was good on a last visit, and the pizza is serviceable. I think the concept is very interesting, but mall traffic just doesn't migrate to the third floor, and it seems like the nearby office workers aren't doing so in large numbers either.
I'm one of those nearby office workers (maybe 1x per week) and I've never gone up for lunch or seen any of my colleagues do so either. Sweetgreen seems to get the lunch traffic. The Macy's closing has reduced third-floor traffic even more, I'm sure.

I'm going to look for that one! I'm a hard cider fan from way back. Couple months ago I discovered Austin Eastciders at Wegmans. The retro cans caught my eye. For me it hits the sweet spot so to speak. A lot of ciders are either too dry or too sweet for me; this stuff threads the needle. Reasonably priced and good flavored varieties too.
When I was a kid I had to drive to Federal Hill in Providence to pick up hard cider. Probably a good thing it wasn't so easy to come by back then.😁
