  1. I want to love Founding Famers soooo much - but I can't - many things aside. Amen to Jane Black's article and same to your Post, DR. I know a bit about the green / eco / sustainable / environmental business and whether you call it 'green washing' or 'food washing' or whatever, it all translates back to how you posture yourself is usually how you posture your business. As a diner for me that usually translates to taste and experience. Taste at Founding Farmers has been, well, ok - experience on the other hand has felt, well, a little dirty - and not in a free range pig happy in the mud kind of way. Just one man's opinion.
  2. Have been to the Wine House several times over the past few years and find the experience to be mixed. Good selection of wines and all seem priced relatively competitively to other wine stores in the area and in DC in general. Menu is nice and plates are small but nice. Our food quality has been mixed - one visit delicious, the next not so much. For example, a lamb dish noted on the menu with a mint sauce reduction of some sort was presented with jelly. Corking fee is acceptable, particularly compared with DC corkages, but becomes tiresome after the first bottle for a large-sh party (more than 5 and more than 1 or 2 bottles). Overall, a nice place to visit but they could do much to make it more attractive for the frequent visitor or as a "neighborhood" destination. Fun if you're in the area - not worth the drive on a regular basis from DC unless dining with local friends.
  3. HI - first post and really looking forward to reading and hearing about everyone's experiences. I have a lot of respect for the business side of dining as I worked my way through school doing everything from washing dishes to waiting tables - over 30 years ago. Having said that, I travel a lot and also spend many a night throughout DC finding a bite and a decent glass of wine due to my crazy work and client schedule. As a frequent diner and someone who is focused on the customer/consumer experience I really value the establishment that puts service right in line with quality. Love to find a 'bargain' - yes; love to find a place that I feel really cares about its customers - yes, yes; love to find a place with a decent wine list (stellar is better, decent will do) - yes, yes, yes, yes! Thanks for letting me share and looking forward to group.
