A while back, I spoke with the gentleman who oversees the Old Town market on Saturday and he told me that they were trying to get a market up and running during the week at the tri-corner hat . Glad to see it's happening!
ohstate
Since I'm never around on Saturdays, it is one market I might actually make. Only 3 blocks from home, so no excuses.

dcaCRL
I like the "as available" disclaimer in the press release. I was wondering how they would come up with vendors this late in the season, but they have a few good produce options with Bigg Riggs and D&S Farms. Greenstone Fields was new to me, with beautiful flowers and tomatoes from a neighbor's farm as theirs aren't quite ripe yet. A nice little stop and it's nice to have so close to home, but I do hope they can beef it up with some other vendors!
monavano
The N. Old Town market had a nice little crowd today with some being folks wandering in from nearby offices. Four vendors today: Bigg Riggs (WVA) D&S (Southern MD) Shlagel Farms (Waldorf, MD) Greenstone Fields (Wheatland, VA) There was plenty of beautiful produce, flowers and canned goods. I bought a couple heirloom tomatoes. The sign said that they are heirloom yellow stripe. They look like "hillbilly". Large yellow and red on the outside, with the inside looking like a blood orange. The taste was very sweet, and the flesh was meaty. A magnificent tomato worth every penny. I paired it with leftover chevre.
dcaCRL
Maribeth's Bakery (well-known from Old Town's Saturday market) joined the market last week. Dan at D&S sold out of peaches early and said they have one, maybe two weeks left. Though the weekend's rain may have changed that.
dcaCRL
The Upper King Street Fresh Farmers Market reopened yesterday. Got in before the monsoon and was pleased to see quite a few more vendors than last year -- particularly excited to see Cibola Farms has joined. Breadline, Vera's Bakery, Maribeth's Bakery, Tom the Cheese Guy (of Del Ray & West End), Shlagel, Bigg Riggs, and a new favorite, Long Hollow Ecological Farms. Photos here. goldenticket
Just FYI - this market is closed/non-existent, as I learned yesterday afternoon. As an alternative....keep walking a block or two, and you can take advantage of the Old Town Whole Foods Winesday event. $5 the first time, $4 after that (if you bring your glass back), will get you 5 wine tastings with paired hors d'oeuvre size food tastings. For about a glass and a half of wine and a reasonably filling amount of food, it's not a bad deal. 5-7pm every Wednesday. (not it's not a farmers market... but there's wine!)
