Family is in town from Arkansas. Looking for something for Friday night. Her parents are not the most adventurous diners in the world, but there's no reason to resign ourselves to the nearest TGI Chilibee's. Thanks in advance! --- [NB - I changed the title and tagged the thread. Rocks]

Amigos, I am flying out of National tomorrow night at 10:10 - aiming to get to National around 9. Since it is such a late flight, my husband and I are thinking of grabbing dinner beforehand somewhere in VA in Arlington or Crystal City. We NEVER go out in VA so I am looking for suggestions of low-key, good places that we should consider trying. Caveats: will only have an hour and 15 minutes or so; we will arrive around 7:30 and need to be able to sit without a wait; I'll be in shorts; should have relatively easy parking; should not be too far from the main roads leading from Mt. Pleasant to DCA; not looking for seafood/burgers because I am about to go to Maine and Cape Cod for 3 weeks of vacation and will be eating plenty of those things. Was thinking maybe good Asian or Middle Eastern; or Turkish, Ethiopian, etc. Something I won't be eating in the next 3 weeks in New England.... Ideas?

Hi all, Reaching out for some ideas after I've done some fairly extensive research. My best guess so far is that we'll have at least 50 people for a Friday night wedding rehearsal dinner. Mostly I've run into the issue of a restaurant's space not being large enough and another issue of the cost just being too expensive. 2 places that I'm considering are Carluccio's and Theismann's. I'm a bit wary of Carluccio's since they are new-ish and I'm not sure they have had much experience with private events. Though we have eaten there before and enjoyed our meals there. We are going to try Theismann's for the first time sometime this week. I'm leaning towards them because private events are something they seem more than comfortable with, to the point that they have a rehearsal dinner section on their website. It is also incredibly close to both hotels I have room blocks at. Any thoughts would be appreciated - thanks!

Hey DRs, I am looking for a good restaurant that is on the fun and trendy side to take my brother in law and his girlfriend on Friday night. They are coming in from New York. She is a real foodie, he is more along for the ride, but doesn't love really strange things. It is a little late to get a reservation at some of the places I would like to try (Convivial, Kinship). Thoughts? KT

I know it's a tall order. A friend of mine, a former DC resident, is in town for one night only, and asked for a place that a handful (probably 6-8) can meet up for drinks tomorrow after work. And, of course, be able to sit down and hear each other talk. I can't come up with any place around there that isn't going to be a clusterf*ck. We don't need food, hipster cocktails, or a 200 bottle long beer list, just a place to sit for an hour or two over drinks and catch up. Any ideas?

May need to get a gang of 5, including and 8-year-old and an 11-year-old into a restaurant in or near Annapolis with short notice on a Friday night. Decent food and a high likelihood of last-minute availability are key. The closer to home base -- walking distance from Mike's, on Riva Road (dietary restrictions preclude shellfish) -- the better. Thanks.

Headed to an oddly-timed (4PM Friday -- at least it gets me out of work early on a gorgeous day) wedding in Boyd's, MD, near Germantown. As I am the guest of the groom's boss, we'll be pealing off early, so the other guests can misbehave without inhibition, and will likely be paralleling Rockville Pike down 270, past G-town, G-Bur,g R-V and other MC metro areas about 7PM, hungry for having had to subsist on wedding food. Any thoughts? Is Joe's Noodle House still swell? Anything else?
