saf
Today at lunch I was overcome by a craving for baked pork buns. I had no idea where to find them any more. I work near metro center, and will walk for food. Any thoughts? (Also, if almond cookies were there too, that would be great.)

You probably have to venture out to the suburbs for them.
goodeats
Stupid question, but is baked pork buns the white kind or the bun-bread kind with roast pork inside? If it's the white kind, and although this place is not ideal, you can get your fix at Ping Pong Dim Sum in Chinatown. If it's the bun-bread kind, there is a shop next to Chinatown Express on 6th street that sell buns of all sorts. I have not purchased any there before, but have wandered in there once. Also, you might look up Bao Chinese Restaurant at K & Vermont. They might have steamed buns that might satisfy your craving. [Note: Bao closed. Some pollo place or kabob place is now there.] Good luck! Edited May 11, 2011 by goodeats
saf
Sadly, I can't think of any good pork buns in DC. You probably have to venture out to the suburbs for them. That's what I'm afraid of. I like the buns at Hollywood East a lot, but want them for a work lunch, downtown, NOW! Maybe some day a nice food truck will sell buns, and dumplings, and things like that. The bun-bread kind with the roast pork inside. Thanks for the ideas. I will report back once I have tried them.

The almond cookies are too big, but taste right. Thanks!
