Choirgirl21
So it seems that each time I come back from international travel, one thing I crave the most is the coffee (seriously, the state of the coffee situation here in the US makes me sad after having far superior coffee beverages in the freaking rest stop gas stations in Italy!). Anyway, you guys didn't fail me when I came back from Australia and desperately wanted a flat white so now I'm hoping you can help me out by letting me know if there are any coffee shops in DC who can make a caffe macchiato like the ones I had in Italy, preferably with sidewalk tables on the edge of the Piazza Navona... lion
Go to LaColombe next to Rogue 24 best coffee in the city.....no frills no hipsters no bull shit I used to visit their Rittenhouse Square location about five years ago quite a bit when a good friend was living there. Before every trip back home would stop by for a cup. Remember asking them when they were going to expand into DC. Their response was about taking time to get the right blend of beans in quantity and right people working new locations. Glad to see they finally opened a place in DC. Next for coffee in DC would be Blue Bottle.
B.A.R.
Casa Italiano right next door to the Holy Rosary Church (Catholic Mass in Italian). Not sure if they have regular hours but yesterday there was an old dude banging out $2 espresso's and cappuccino's after church. Great macchiato, definitely no hipsters. Knowledge of Italian a plus, but not necessary.
