"The Lion's Share" - What Does It Really Mean?

I've seen many people use "the lion's share" in ways that don't make any sense to me.

I've seen it to mean a "majority."

I've seen it to mean "a lot of."

But it seems intuitive to me that "the lion's share" means, "as much as someone wants." Visualize an antelope carcass - the lion will eat until she's full, and then she's had her share. Only then will she walk away, and let the hyenas have their turn.

As King of the Beasts is not the lion entitled to a share the size of the lion's choosing?

Wikipedia says it means majority, and that's how I always thought it meant.  Of course a majority can be 50.00000000000000000000000000000001% to 100%.
