  1. Schneider's on Massachusetts still had a few bottles left as of last week. You have to ask the beer guy for it as they don't have it out on the shelves there either.
  2. Holy cow. Like enough of my $$$ and caloric intake aren't already taken up by the MLG. I better get a 3rd job and start marathon training before these places open.
  3. I didn't find it mentioned here (or maybe I missed it) and maybe I am just not in the hip crowd, but I am addicted to the New Best Cookbook from the America's Test Kitchen/Cook's Illustrated folks. It overthinks things sometimes, but probably 75-80% of the stuff I have made from it has been out-of-the-park good. I may fiddle with the recipes after a first try but tend to follow them to the letter the first time I make them. They've already done a whole lot of work fine tuning them so I'm willing to see what they've come up with.
  4. Yeah the two that I have had both seemed very Sauternes-esque, only a bit lighter. I was really surprised by how low the ABV is on these in general.
  5. I recently made a new dessert wine discovery at the Chevy Chase Holiday Wine Tasting - TOKAJI. Maybe a whole lot of you know about it but I had never encountered it before and man, am I hooked. This stuff is like liquid sunshine on an Indian Summer evening. I picked up three bottles of the Royal Tokaji 5 Puttonyos and have already blasted through 2 of them, so today I headed to Schneider's in DC to pick up one more, and while I was there REALLY splurged and got one of the little 100ml bottles of the Chateau Pajzos Tokaji Esszencia. A bargain at $.64/ml. If anyone has any other recommendations in this area I would love to hear about them. Cheers, durwoodx
  6. Corsendonk Christmas Ale, although the St. Bernardus was a close second (and may be next)
  7. No kidding. I went through the first 4-pack I bought in one night. Too good to stop. Went back the next day and bought a case. It was gone (with help from friends) in less than a week due to a beer tasting I had at my house (It makes a great "appetizer" for serious beer tastings, BTW!) The following day I hit about 4 different stores desperately trying to find more and managed to find 2 cases at the Springfield Whole Foods, which I greedily snatched up. I have since been trying to control myself and ration it but only have a single 4 pack left. When (hopefully) this is released next year I am getting 4-5 cases as soon as I see it. So good.
