V.H.
I'm in need of duck legs to make confit and would like to find a reasonably priced source for them in either DC or NoVa. Anyone have a source?
stickmoon
The Butcher Block in Alexandria sometimes has legs of duck confit. They may be able to help you out. 1600 King Street Alexandria, VA 22314 (703) 894-5253
goodeats
Maybe call over to Westover market? (703-536-5040) [but I don't know if they would have it.]
leleboo
Do you have enough duck fat already, or do you need that too? Ideas for sources for whole ducks (so, presumably, also legs) are here and for making confit (who'll sell you fat! ) here.
mdt
You can order them at Cheesetique if they don't have them. Good prices and no hormones/antibiotics in the birds.
zoramargolis
I'm in need of duck legs to make confit and would like to find a reasonably priced source for them in either DC or NoVa. Anyone have a source? I have irregularly found them at H Mart in Merrifield. They haven't had them every time I've been. But they are cheap. Be sure to sniff the package to make sure they smell ok. If you are up for it, most Asian markets sell frozen whole ducks, cheap. You can break them down, render the skin for duck fat, grill the breasts, confit the legs and use the bones for stock. For much better quality, but higher priced duck legs from D'Artagnan, check The Organic Butcher of McLean.
hillvalley
Market Poultry at Eastern Market. They also sell duck fat. If they don't have it in they'll order it for you.
agm
I order online from Hudson Valley. Great quality, and sometimes, if I order legs and fat, they toss in a large duck breast as well. I just have to resist the urge to buy foie gras as well. http://www.hudsonvalleyfoiegras.com/foiegrasmarket.html
Toogs
I got a bag of 6 or 8 at balducci's once, but I haven't seen them there regularly.
