mtureck
My wife and I have gone to Chez Francois for lunch, and then gone hiking at Great Falls a number of times. Looking for some variety, but in the same vein...any suggestions? I'd say within 45 minutes or so of DC ideally. Thanks!
goldenticket
It might be a bit (not much) more than 45 minutes, but The Ashby Inn is just up the road from Sky Meadows State Park. Lunch is available 12-2pm Wed-Sat; Brunch 12-2 on Sun. The covered outdoor patio is a lovely spot for any meal, assuming the heat isn't too oppressive. Choirgirl21
Sugar Loaf Mountain and the Comus Inn. Great suggestion. Just check the hours before you go. We tried this, but because we hike then eat they were in between lunch and dinner and therefore closed.
KMango
Sugar Loaf Mountain and the Comus Inn. And another option for the Maryland side of the Potomac... Have lunch at Monocacy Crossing, coupled with hiking at either Sugarloaf or the easy/breezy tow path; the quiet entrance via the Monocacy Acqueduct. You could even plan the route to go a bit out of your way to have a just-for-fun journey across the White's Ferry. (objects in post) (may be farther) (than they appear)
plarkins
Hike in the Bull Run Mountains, just past Haymarket; then head back up Hwy 15 to The Pit Stop BBQ.
