RWBooneJr
Wanna know how I know your restaurant sucks? I can get an 8:00 reservation tonight on Opentable. Any ideas for a place near Dupont or U Street where I can meet to discuss a deal at 8:00 and not want to punch anyone celebrating a manufactured holiday? beachgirl54
I'm in a similar boat - friend is here from overseas and we want to have dinner, with her boss. Checking OpenTable but nothing enticing comes up . . . Sigh.
bookluvingbabe
15 RIA for the business meeting. I haven't been since Jamie left, but hotels tends to have less holiday insanity. Unless they've massively changed the space, you can have a nice conversation there.

Joe H
Nine years ago we had this experience at the Prime Rib on Valentine's Day and swore not to go out again: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/169652 Tonight, after a day of drinking our way around VA wineries (including two remarkable estate reds at Granite Heights (( http://graniteheightsorchard.com/ )) and a later visit to Martarella) we had dinner at Clair's at the Depot in Warrenton. http://www.clairesrestaurant.com/ Remarkable. The polar opposite of our experience at the Prime Rib years ago. For anyone reading this I would strongly suggest considering a day trip visiting VA wineries and ending up with visits to restaurants like Clair's in Warrenton, Tuscarora Mill and the Wine Kitchen in Leesburg, Market Table Bistro in Lovettsville, the Ashby Inn in Paris and a few others. Leave D. C. on Valentine's Day and explore the VA countryside.
beachgirl54
Well, we ended up at Agora on 17th Street, per my friend's boss's choice (she's 1/2 Turkish). Yes, we were the only non couple in there but the food was quite good (will post about it later) and we enjoyed ourselves, especially watching the couples taking pictures. Yeesh. And we all wondered why everyone was making such a big deal - friend and her boss are Dutch and said it's a total nonevent in the Netherlands and Belgium.
