gks_eats_dc
Apparently the Wine Specialists in Dupont were selling a nice selection of 2003 Turleys...I somehow failed to see that email, sent by them on 10 Jan...Checking their website now, everything is gone. Can anyone confirm? Does anyone know whether it is at all still possible to track down Turleys in the area? MugZ77
I can't confirm whether the Wine Specialist has sold off its supply, but it's true -- they did have a good number for sale in their premium section. You might also check the shelves at Cleveland Park Wines (which has, on occasion, sold Turleys) or visit MacArthur Beverages, which seems to have a few in stock (including the Juvenile zinfandel, which is a tremendous bang for the buck): http://www.wine-searcher.com/find/Turley/2003/-/USD/A/-/0 My list shipments are processed through Schneider's, but I don't know whether Schneider's has any singles available; indeed, their website shows that they don't. If you'd like to consume immediately after purchase, you might check the wine lists at Corduroy (a recent post indicated that they had a 2001 zin available at a fair price), Mendocino (which routinely has some Turleys in stock), and Notti Bianche (which offers the iffy White Coat at a well marked-up $99 per bottle!). If all else fails, you could always hit up http://www.winezap.com/ for the one you want. Good luck! Michael (DCist) Thanks for the suggestions. I was at MacArthur last week, and I didn't spot Turleys, though I should have asked. I did see an "Earthquake" for $73 at Corduroy, which is a fair mark-up, I suppose, given the rarity. And I agree with you about Juvenile, it's a great value. zoramargolis
Check with Magruder's in Chevy Chase. I've seen some there in the past.

I plan to keep it for another 2 weeks or so, or until the supply dries up.
Joe Riley
We had them, but I sold every bottle within 24 hours after I got them. Next release should be in late spring (May/June). They release twice per year, spring and fall.
gks_eats_dc
Believe it or not, it's taken some concentration, but there are Turleys left in this city.
Chris W
I find the best way to get my hands on Turley is to join an online community such as vinocellar and there are usually folks that are willing to share some of their allocation.
vineguy
Quite simply, the best way to get Turley is to sign up for the mailing list. They are making a lot of Turley these days and it does not take long to go from "wait list" to "mailing list". They have two releases per year, Spring and Fall, so you might not have to wait more than 6-12 months to get your own allocation. you can also pick some up on wine commune while you're waiting. Good luck. Scott The Vine Guy
Bean
I don't know if the this thread is to help those who want to buy for their cellars, but I have seen a few in restaurants around town lately.... Medicino Grill is serving a Turley white by the glass and Asia Nora has a bottle for $78 on the list. It's a little young and a little big for the food, but a sighting none-the-less. cjsadler
Pssst.... That wine/liquor store at the corner of Q and Connecticut (not sure of the name of that place) has two different Turley zins. Juvenile for $35 (I think) and Old Vines (?) for $55. Out of my price range, but if you're interested, they had about 6 bottles of each out on the shelves. The old vines is good, but not 55 dollars good. And I had the 2003 Juvenile last night and even 35 if expensive for that.

And I had the 2003 Juvenile last night and even 35 if expensive for that. Yeah, that is a significant mark-up. $30 for Juvenile should be the upper limit. I have a feeling the $55 for the Old Vines has to do with Parker's 95 for it.
DLB
I orderd a bottle of this a few days ago at Charlie Palmer, and it was excellent! I tried a few stores in VA on yesterday, however I could not locate any bottles. Has anyone ever heard of this wine? It's a blend of Cabernet Savignon and Syrah from Nappa. I wish I had a glass right at this moment!
cjsadler
I've actually seen this a couple of places recently (hard to miss with that distinct MC Escher label). Best Cellars Dupont has carried it for awhile, but as usual, it's incredibly overpriced there. Also, while waiting to meet some people for lunch the other weekend, I was poking around in the wine store next to River Falls Seafood in Potomac. They have it for much less than BC (can't remember the exact prices, but I think at BC it's like $22 and maybe $16 at that Potomac store).
