DonRocks Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I sat across from Chef Richard on the Acela last Thursday - had no idea that he was on Amtrak's "culinary team". At any rate, I would have preferred anything from the Gallery to the Jerk Chicken and cilantro rice I was served... You see, *this* is a proper venue for Cuisine Solutions, and it would not surprise me at all if they produced that meal. If that's the case, there's no reason the Jerk Chicken shouldn't have been of at least decent quality.
DaveO Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 A long time ago Amtrak had a great car on their train to Montreal. The car included a piano, was near the bar/food car, and it made that interminably long ride fun. They tanked that car. Too bad. Since everything is "cooked" by microwave they should incorporate a service whereby you bring your own food that needs heating and pay a nominal service charge for a "nuke". That would be a big improvement.

I will note that the menu on the train changes at least quarterly, if not more frequently than that (it all kind of blends together). No idea if Cuisine Solutions is involved, but I will ask if it's cooked in the bag this week...
