What do people think of Talenti gelati and sorbets? The first time I ever tried them, I thought they were about as good as any premium brand of ice-cream product on the market, and I *still* think they are, but has anyone noticed that they've become ubiquitous, and that you can even find them at Rite Aid? I suspect the reason for the massive increase in distribution is that the company (which was founded in 2003) was acquired by Unilever, the world's third-largest consumer goods company, with $60 billion in annual revenue, in Dec, 2014. Although Talenti is a subsidiary, they're still accountable - literally accountable - to Unilever, and I'm wondering if anyone has noticed a change (I'm not convinced I have, except for the increase in distribution; although I did just recently notice that they're going out of their way to explain why they're using dextrose). My guess is that if they're left alone, they can maintain a high level of quality, but if they're micro-managed, the product will go the way of Häagen-Dazs (General Mills) and Ben & Jerry's (also a subsidiary of Unilever, which, to me, foreshadows The End of Talenti in the next 5-10 years). If you haven't noticed a precipitous drop in quality in Ben & Jerry's over the past fifteen years, then you're not my target audience. Cheers, Rocks

One of these is not like the others. Bob Dylan continues to be a solidly productive artist.

Will be in M / SP the end of May and we're looking for a nice place for dinner featuring local foods. We've narrowed our list to Heartland, Restaurant Alma and Lucia's. Does anyone have any opinions or dining experience there?

I spent 15 minutes thinking about how to make the topic creatively/amusingly alliterative and then gave up. "Andrew Zimmern's Hommage to Chef Peter Chang Is Not Winning Over Diners - or Chang's Business Partner" by Tim Carman on washingtonpost.com

This week, I've seen Tippie Hedren in two Alfred Hitchcock films: "The Birds" (1963) and "Marnie" (1964). Hedren has very much of a "style," in that she plays a matronly young woman in these movies, seeming older than her youth and beauty would imply. There's something about her very un-Audrey Hepburn-like in that she doesn't radiate vigor, or steal scenes by her mere presence. Honestly, I don't love her acting, either, although she got through both of these roles without any catastrophic flaws. Is anyone else here a Hedren fan? And if so, what did you like that you saw her in?

I'll let other folks comment on the game; right now, I want to report that Redskins Hall-of-Famer Darrell Green carried the Vince Lombardi trophy at the end of the game - I am * so glad* to have watched this wonderful person have this honor. Congratulations to the great Philadelphia Eagles for winning their first-ever Super Bowl. Congratulations also to the great New England Patriots for continuing to establish themselves - perhaps along with the Green Bay Packers - as the greatest NFL team in history.

I'm sorry to inform people that Prince passed away today. This article has been confirmed by multiple sources. "Prince Dead at 57" on tmz.com I have a friend who may have been Prince's biggest fan, and I'm not exaggerating. My deepest condolences, LF.

If McHale had played on a different team he would've scored a LOT more points. (Not that that is a good thing - see Kevin Love.)
