  1. Oh, for crying out loud... how could you make a journey to TemptAsian and not try their famous sweet & sour pork? I'm also fond of their "moo" goo gai pan, although I never could get our waitress to explain why they named it that when it doesn't even contain any beef.
  2. I wasn't able to make it, and the photos indeed have driven me bonkers with longing! The fish rolls have been on the "must try" list for quite some time.

    Yes!

The Morimoto thing was first announced back in December, so that can't be it. Hmm. The Ritz-Carlton is tossing out Fabio Trabocchi and will re-open the space as an Olive Garden?
  4. The Melting Pot is very romantic... to me, anyway, because my now-husband proposed to me after a dinner there. As for the other choices, well, the amusement factor is high. Phillips ranking so high in the crab category is not nearly as chortle-inducing as the placement of Joe's Crab Shack in the #5 spot. Hell, I'm almost stunned that McDonald's and Burger King didn't make the top ten list for burger joints.
  5. I e-mailed that very question to them today, and this is their reply: Sounds good to me. My husband doesn't eat crab in any form (heathen!), so he always gets the fried clam strips. Yeah, yeah, I know, but he likes them. He tried the fried shrimp once and they were awful (all breading). My usual order is the veggie crab soup, large crabs, and hush puppies. This, in fact, was my "last meal" before I had gastric bypass surgery. Luckily I can still eat blue crabs afterwards, just not quite so many.
  6. Finally managed to drag my husband to TemptAsian, after having dragged him several times to China Star (60 mile roundtrip from our house in northern Silver Spring). I ordered the baby wontons in spicy & sour sauce (not as spicy as the CS version was, darn it), sliced pork in garlic sauce (this is called fish-fragrant flavor, right?), spinach sauteed in garlic, and that roasted fish with green onion. My husband is not terribly interested in food, nor is his palate particularly sophisticated. Given the choice, he would live on Hot Pockets and crackers with aerosol cheese. Even he raved about the fish. It was, indeed, bloody awesome. Alas, the Chen Cang Beef (my husband's former favorite) is not on the TA menu, and I don't recall it being on the specials. Can we beg Chef Cheng to bring it back? (I asked the waitress and she had no idea what I was talking about) Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the next Tuesday luncheon... because by then the leftovers from tonight will be all gone.
