ol_ironstomach
Also seen in MoCo at Praline Bakery, and at St. Michel Bakery. But these are all of the French variety, which wikipedia tells me is used to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany. Or are you looking for the Louisiana type associated with Mardi Gras? rkduggins
Last year I got a King cake from Buzz bakery in Alexandria. It was very good, and even had the "bean" or little plastic baby inside.
lperry
This won't help, but the thread is making me sad and nostalgic because I wish I could still mail order from McKenzie's bakeries in New Orleans. That's where countless king cakes were procured during my time at Tulane, along with petit fours and the infamous turtle cookies. A few others miss it too. NolaCaine
Even though it is in Mississippi (Picayune) my favorite mail order king cake is Paul's http://paulspastry.com/ Also, not MoCo, but Heidelberg's in Arlington sells them although I haven't tried one yet. A German King Cake? I can't get past the concept. Why does this tread make me miss rum?
