DC Deb
"Dishwasher Cooking: Make Your Dinner While Cleaning The Plates" by Michaeleen Doucleff on npr.org This reminds me of a PTA cookbook from the early 80s with a recipe for dishwasher dill pickles. The cucumbers were in canning jars. Unless you have access to a vaccum sealer, it sounds pretty iffy to "cook" food with soap in there.
MsDiPesto
There was an article in the 1960's in Popular Mechanics (or Pop. Science) about cooking on the engine manifold, my dad showed it to me, and yet wouldn't make me a lousy hot dog. It only would have been a 30 mile drive. deangold
^ Manifold Destiny I'm wondering if as speed increases, does the added wind speed moving over the upper half of the food to be cooked result in enough heat being removed as to increase cooking time? In othe words, does driving at the sppeed limit not only increase gas mileage but improve cook times?
Dr. Delicious
I recall once poaching some salmon in our dishwasher, as a lark, several years ago. It actually turned out really good, in that it was cooked evenly and to temperature and not overdone. I also recall why we never did it again: because your dishwasher then smells like salmon...D'Oh!
