Jessica Strelitz Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I am working on a story on restaurant gardens in Arlington, McLean and Falls Church, and have recently discovered that one of the places I was going to include in the profile no longer maintains their rooftop garden -- sadly, Eventide droppped the program with their new chef. Does anyone know of any restaurant that has an onsite garden, herbs, veg, etc - or any sort of on-site farm to table program in Arlington, McLean or Falls Church. I am already have connected with 2941, Harth and Main Event Caterers. Many thanks! Jess 1
DonRocks Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Jess, Peking Gourmet Inn grows their own ... I think it's ... garlic sprouts. I was going to say Härth, but you've already got that included. When is your deadline? I'll try and help you out. Cheers, Rocks 1
Jessica Strelitz Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 Thanks so much, Don! I hadn't heard that about Peking Gourmet -- Ill check it out. Deadline is Jan. 1.Many thanks for any help you or the rest of the DR crew can offer. Always appreciate the mind-boost!Jess
John William G Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Doesn't Chez Francois have a garden where they row some of their stuff?
DonRocks Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Cathal Armstrong maintains a garden for Restaurant Eve. I asked him what he grew in it: "Sage, thyme, rosemary, horseradish, tomatoes, onions, bay leaf, sorrel, apples, pears, peaches. Should I go on?"
ktmoomau Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Hmm, I can't remember for sure, but I thought Bastille in Alexandria had a small garden by their restaurant? Am I crazy?
Jessica Strelitz Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 Great suggestions! Unfortunately, Great Falls is not in the distribution area -- nor is Alexandria -- only Falls Church, Arlington and McLean.
DonRocks Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 So it really is that specific - okay. We'll keep that in mind. Maybe ask Seb at Amoo's Kabob?
Jessica Strelitz Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 Will do, Don. And to confirm, LACF does have an on-site garden for the restaurant -- wish I could include them! Thanks again for everyone's help.
