EdSz
My friend, Steve and I have been exchanging Christmas presents over Chevas at the Jefferson for several years now. Before that it was the Hay-Adams, when the lounge was toward the rear of the hotel with the grand piano and fireplace. What are your suggestions for a replacement? We've already discarded Tabard Inn. Thanks. -Ed
brettashley01
Vidalia, Circle Bistro, Round Robin, and Town & Country in the Mayflower spring to mind.
Keithstg
I'd second the Round Robin bar. Alternatively, the bar at the Ritz Georgetown might work. It's a more modern than the bars listed above, but is quiet and comfortable in the early evening.
brian
I'd second the Ritz Georgetown, but I'd suggest sitting in the lobby rather than the bar - the room is nicer, there's a piano, a fieplace, and you still get full drink service. Off The Record at the Hay Adams is still killer - much more spacious than Round Robin at the Willard.
wolverine
Haven't been there is quite some time, but the Soiftel used to have a nice bar -- and probably still does. You could also try Poste (but there is not too much seating). I agree with some of the others though who think your safest bet would be the Off the Record. Sthitch
The bar at the Four Seasons is quite nice with comfortable chairs and someone playing piano far enough away that it will not deafen you, but still loud enough to enjoy. I have always found the Round Robin to be way to small.
Xochitl10
I'd second Town & Country in the Mayflower. Well-made classic drinks, the bar area has comfortable chairs, and you can hear the piano from the lobby. It's dark, but not overly so.
