  1. Not completely sure what Detroit style pizza should taste like, but the one from Della Barba sure is tasty. We ordered one last night with sausage and mushrooms and it was great. Crust was thick but fluffy and not too dense. We also loved the cheddar cheese melted into the crust on the bottom. Not an inexpensive pie (a cheese pizza is $25 and toppings are $2-3 each), but we could only eat half of it and will polish off the rest tonight.
  2. I picked up an order at Cameo the other day. Since Souk no longer has bread and I'm not baking much myself, I've been scoping out other sources. Since I was only ordering bread, I also got just a regular $3 drip coffee too. After ordering online, I arrived 30 or so minutes later. The coffee had been put out on the counter with the bread when the order was fulfilled right after I put it in, so it had been sitting a while. The upshot: their rustic bread is fantastic. The coffee, which I ordered with "a splash of milk" had exactly the right amount of milk. Since it was pretty tepid when I tried it, I'm not sure how to evaluate it beyond that. They have tasting notes, etc., on the menu. So...wait for it...I sat at a table outside with no one around and chugged about half the coffee, since it wasn't getting any hotter. First time I had consumed food or beverage at a restaurant's tables in just about a year. I reheated what was left of the coffee when I got home and it was fine, but I'll try to order when I'm nearby next time so the coffee hasn't been sitting long.
  3. Somehow this place has passed me by with stealth. I just really noticed it today, and it's apparently going to open in mid-May. (Well, that's the target.) Two of us spoke with a man working outside I assume is the owner, and he said that he plans outdoor seating and will also be applying for an alcohol permit to serve wine (or at least wine). Projected hours: 6AM to 9PM Mondays through Thursdays and 6 to 10 on Fridays and Saturdays. Closed Sundays. Since it has completely passed me by, I have no idea how far he has gotten with any of the permitting for outdoor seating or alcohol. I'm not sure how the immediate neighbors will react to those two facets of the operation. There is a decent space for a patio outside. (Visually, this is catty-corner from the northeast corner of the Car Barn, at 101 15th Street.) Their website is up and functioning: http://www.miascoffeehouse.com I wasn't sure if this was the right forum for the posting, but given that this is the coffee menu, I figured here: Espresso Americano Flat White French Press Pour Over Macchiato Cortado Cappucino Latte Cold Brew Iced Coffee Decaf House Blend
