  2. My non-profit has now had Cedar Knoll cater multiple events for us (two events for two years) one is a breakfast, and one was an evening event needing appetizers. I am not sure how widely they do catering, we are in Alexandria, so it may make it easier. But I know they have nice event space, too. We have thought they have had really tasty items- for the breakfast they had delicious homemade english muffin breakfast sandwiches, which were perfect as it needed to be a little grab and go. Delicious ham biscuits (we really like those). And an assortment of other breakfast items. We have had an assortment of appetizers over the last two years for an event- sweet potato ham biscuit (well they were such a big hit the first time), pork and ginger wontons, chicken fricasse puff, wrapped asparagus, cheese platter, cured salmon on pumpernickel bites, lamb sausage, olive and pepper jelly on cracker, etc, etc. I have to say everyone has really liked the food both years for both events. I thought the food was very good, not too stuffy, something most people would like and try. They have been really nice to work with, the chef has come to oversee set up for the events and make sure everything was correct, and is just super nice. So anyway, as they have their restaurant, I am not sure how widely they do catering, but based on how good this was, I would definitely consider them for holding an event at Cedar Knoll, as well.
  3. Charm City Night Market mark your calendars for this inaugural event in Charm City. I like to deem this event a party with purpose. I have a hunch with the popularity of #crazyrichasians this will be a great opportunity to engage with a community that I have close ties too. Soju, sake, beer, tasty food, music, and so much more...
  4. Good Morning everyone, For the past few years, many of you have asked me when I was going to demonstrate a class. Well I am happy to announce my latest project. And after a phone conversation with the dean of the university, I am happy to announce that I will be holding my first cooking class on Valentines Day. Please sign up to learn how to cook a 5 course dinner menu featured with wine tasting and followed by music and social hour at the University's banquet room. I only have 14 spots left. So, sign up now by either sending me an email directly at chefsebastian@amoosgrill.com or by texting me at 202-999-5259 Thank you all and see you in class ;-) Chef Seb
  5. With apologies if this topic already exists but couldn't find it with a search using highly complex and proprietary methods Great shop owned by a wonderful European couple which has been open almost two years. Just a few storefronts north of La Tomate, the store has a wonderful and thoughtfully-chosen selection of a wide range of products from Greece, Italy and around the Med. Vinegars, cheeses, pastas, coffee, some refrigerated lunch or dinner items and some really wonderful honeys including one (Stayia) from a small Greek producer only available here and at Bread Furst, who get it from these guys. Really worth checking out next time you're in the Dupont area or need something specific of Greek provenance. Niko and Oana are both really knowledgable and hospitable. Sort of a mediterranean-focused concept like the new Indian Pansaari on 17th but in a smaller space. Online here.

  13. I would like to post an open invitation to this week's cupping at ME Swing's Roastery on Monroe Ave. I plan to attend this Friday, 21 June at 10am. Swing's does a cupping every Friday morning. I would be happy to meet other members there. For those unfamiliar with "cupping," essentially several different coffees (3-6?) are prepared in bowl-shaped cups and tasters slurp the coffees with a spoon to aerate the coffee and disperse it over the tongue. I talked with Mark about hosting a special cupping for Rockwellians, but I think it best to start small. Who would like to join me?
