  1. Michel pushing Bittman's face into the mayo was priceless. I guess everything looks bigger on TV because I don't remember the lobster burger being that big!
  2. Jacques and Mr. B, think twice before you run for office. I have great pics for the front page of the Post. Question, how'd a pic of a dead fish end up on my camera I have a few more of edible food I'll post tomorrow. Off to eat a strawberry marshmellow
  3. On behalf of the allergic we appreciated Jacques kindness The pollen is bad enough right now.

Crescentfresh +1, a few pounds of curdled Delray Dairy Assuming everyone shows up we are at 40 people My only concern at this point is paper goods and cutlery. If you have extra, grab it and throw it in the car. I want to thank special ventworms, bivalves, etc. behind the scenes who are giving up their Sunday morning to reserve the tables. See you all tomorrow.
  5. We could use some help "sitting" the area we hope to reserve Sunday morning. If you can spare an hour in the morning (that's a hint to all you people in Va.!) please drop me a PM. We are covered for the most part but it is by people who should not be volunteering this much time. Also, as of now there will be no grill other than the Busboy's portable Webber (assuming it doesn't catch fire again this year ) Since Al isn't bringing his wings there doesn't seem to be much of a need. Hopefully there will be no other problems before Sunday!
  6. Wasn't it painful to watch him put together a stunning dish, observing every intricate movement, with your mouth watering, only to watch it go to another diner
  7. Hey, this is one of the best things that has happened to entertainment factor of 8th street. I cannot wait for an early, warm Friday evening when tourists who venture into deepest, darkest, baddest S.E. to see the Marine Parade, who have never heard of a tapas or a tini, are forced to dine here because the Mug and Marty's are full.
  8. We still have not resolved the grill issue. If you need a grill at the picnic please PM me or Jacques ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If we don't hear from anyone there will not be a grill. Are any of you with children bringing drinks for them? Is anyone bringing nonalcoholic adult-type beverages?
  9. DCMark & CF (and anyone else who would like to join us)-looks like we could use some appetizer type dishes or another veggie or two. But feel free to bring whatever you feel like eating
  10. Unless you hear otherwise, plan on showing up at Belle Haven. I'll post directions later. We now need people to volunteer to get there early and reserve the spot. Please let Jacques Gastreaux or me know if you can help. The earlier we get there the better chance we have of getting the space and picnic tables we need. In the interest of not clogging up the thread again with who is coming and who isn't, please email me only if you can no longer join us. If I don't hear from you I will assume you are coming. I'll post an updated list of who is bringing what when I get home this evening.
  11. We are looking into alternative locations for Sunday. If you have a suggestion please EMAIL me. I will let you all know when we have come up with a solution. The weather is supposed to be beautiful!
  12. I second the Litteri's recommendation. If you are looking for Asian not too far out Daurma on Arlington Blvd. and Hiroki (I think) on St. Elmo's in Bethesda are both good Asian markets. The latter is a great resource for sushi and Daruma has just about anything Japanese that you are looking for.
  13. Who knew it would take just over a month to sign up 200 members!
  14. Of course At the Arlington market they gave them some fancy name so they could overcharge. The salad contained micro basil and greens so I kept the theme going.
  15. I am a fan of Clyde's. While I probably wouldn't eat there on my own accord, it fufills a need most places can't. When family or guests are in town and you need to please the picky kid, vegetarian and grandparent who only eats meat, Clyde fits the bill. Their wings at the old Friendship Heights location weren't too bad either.
  16. Nothing I ate was worth it's own post Saturday lunch was Chipolte (not my choice). Got my sodium intake for the month with the free range pork burrito. Saturday night was pizza at Red Dog. My wild mushroom, roasted shallot and Gouda was better than my friend's pepperoni and mushroom. Sunday night I cooked dinner to celebrate my friend's 30th. We had a micro tomato, basil, mozzarella salad, flat iron steak topped with a lemon basil/roasted garlic pesto with roasted asparagus wrapped in prosciutto. For desert I topped the first strawberries of the season (which aren't quite sweet enough to eat on their own) with framboise creme anglaise. We washed it all down with bellini. Sunday late night snack: more strawberries and creme anglaise.
  17. I've recieved a couple of questions about who is bringing what so I thought I would post an updated list. Heather+3-oatmeal cookies and salad Mrs. & Mr. B+2-Suasages Mktye +1- MelGold-cold Asian chicken salad Barbara+1-Mediterranean potato salad, beer, brownies Peanut +2 1) Greek salad of some sort 2) Whipped Feta 3) A yogurt dip (probably dried apricot and garlic) 4) Some other dip 5) Pita Laniloa-brownies and green bean salad Buckinghamilton& Diner Boy Nadya-booze, fruit salad and caviar if she has any left Ferhat-hurma & bbq Erin+1-Wine and grill? The more food the better
  18. I forgot this before......There are a few of you coming from Annapolis. If you are interested in carpooling email me and I will trade contact info. for you.
  19. I hit Arlington for the first time this morning. Although many of the same farmers are at Dupont I found a couple that were worth crossing the bridge for. Picked up my first strawberries of the season, asparagus, cucumbers, lemon basil and micro basil. Any suggestions (other than pesto) for the lemon basil? It is stronger than I thought it would be. Has anyone tried the orange creamsicle flavored milk from the dairy guy?
  20. I've got that taken care of There is still room for more if you would like to join us.
