  1. A bit random, but the Cafe International in Woodley Park makes a mean breakfast sandwich. Real eggs folded over themselves and any other ingredients (meat, cheese) on a bagel, toast, english muffin, croissant. The bagels themselves aren't spectacular, but passable. One of the owners is a bit surly, but most of the staff is very nice. Bagels Etc. on P Street in Dupont is another solid option. They also have tons of other schmear and sandwich options. Very lunch-counter style, efficient and cheap. And the bagels themselves are denser and chewier, not the puffy "bakery style" generic types.
  2. Going to Komi for the first time tomorrow night; definitely getting the tasting menu (it's a special occasion, after all), but wondering whether we should opt for the wine pairings. I've heard mixed reviews and am wondering whether it's worth the extra expense or whether we're better off with a nice-ish bottle. While it's an occasion, Komi is still a splurge! Any thoughts/strong feelings one way or the other?
  3. An embarassing confession: tonight is my first trip to Ray's (I've lived in DC about a year). Scanning various foodie sites for suggestions, and wondering in particular about the chateaubriand for 2 special--any chance it's still in effect? Can anyone help an RTS virgin?
