  1. Thought i'd add my two cents to this topic. Yeah, I like Tony Luke's. I also like Jim's as well. Personally, I love the cheez whiz on the cheesesteak- if not slathered on too thick, more spread on like butter, it tastes great. I want to recommend Abner's. It's a little more dumpy, located near UPENN. You can even buy 40's from them. Their cheesesteak is pretty greasy but really good. I would also recommend their waffle fries topped with melted whiz- so wrong, but so good.
  2. I would like to recommend the Trinidad Gourmet restaurant in the Waverly neighborhood in Baltimore. It specializes in food that is a mix of Caribbean and Indian flavors. The owners are really nice, and they are always happy to talk about items on their menu. I particularly like their Curry Goat Roti - the roti is homemade and the goat was delicious - imagine a pancake with split peas inside filled with a large amout of curried goat with bones and tendon. Their Aloo pie is also pretty great- it's a large bread, deep fried, split open and filled with potatoes and chickpeas. I've also had their jerk chicken and oxtail stew. I like their sides like pumpkin and rice & peas. They also have a great tamarind chutney to go with a lot of their menu items. I have pics on my food blog here and here Trinidad Gourmet 418 E. 31st St. Waverly Baltimore, MD 21218 410-243-0072
  3. I love Rose's- great cookies- personal favorite is the oatmeal butterscotch. She also has pretty darn good homemade chicken pot pies- delicious crust. I also would recommend her lemon and lime bars which I understand she only makes on special occasions like Honfest.
  4. I agree with you that the brisket is pretty good. The chicken is also pretty tasty. I actually didn't like any of their side dishes- I thought that they were all pretty bland. For ribs, even though I can walk to Rub from where I live, I would rather drive to the county to Andy Nelson's BBQ.
  5. I have been to both locations for ribs, and my preference is for AndyNelson's BBQ Ribs. It feels much more like Memphis-style/St. Louis-style for me that I got a taste for when I was in school in St. Louis. There sauce is delicious, and the ribs are hearty and come apart in a nice way. I also like their beans.
