  1. The creative process of food? Well, i'm a believer that there is a creative process, but no tasting? unacceptable.
  2. Unbelievable. Sold out the concert hall? And there is no food? what are Rachel Ray and Bobby Flay going to do for two hours? Kennedy Center is lacking ideas. Must be tough with all the excellent theatre in the city, I presume Kennedy Center has to go for larger production type events. But this one really tops it. Is anyone on DR going? I would just love to know what they are going to do/ Maybe its like an Iron Chef episode.
  3. Just wanted to echo the THANK YOU to everyone who organized today's picnic. Totally fabulous, as usual & this is a much bettet location. Really liked the space and privacy we had. Plus - we had a roof over our heads for the slight bit of rain that decided to come down. Inconvenient... depends on how much vino you had at the time. Again, THANK YOU. My personally favorites were the Thai Shrimp, the homemade Bratwurst, and that awesome Dulce de Leche dessert.
  4. hey everyone: a friend of mine is raving about a restaurant in Tysons Corner (albeit a horrible location) called Birstro 1 2 3. Anyone know it? If so, please provide some insight on type of food and what you think of it?
  5. it depends on where you live. Eastern market has a good variety. And if you go on weekdays- there is no one there and you can park your car around the back. There are always spaces there - but only on the weekdays
  6. If you have never been here, it is worth the trip. Cozy, dimmed lights, limited seating, very French country ambiance...and if you don't know WHERE it is, you'll miss it. This was my impression. I've been to Adams Morgan a thousand times and have passed right by this little gem of a restaurant. I loved how it all comes together. But specifically, a dish to note: Duck Breast served with Mushroom Risotto and a cherry/port wine sauce . Now, I am a big fan of duck.... duck pate, duck confit, you name it. And so many times when I order it out in restaurants, its either too dry or too crispy. I'm not a crispy duck fan. This Duck Breast was very tender, juicy and cooked "just right" - medium to medium rare . The sauce really added to the taste of the dish - sweetening the experience, literally.. It was also half price bottle of wine night - so that always makes everything right. Go for the Duck!
  7. I was there last night for yet another Hurricane Katrina fundraiser - had a chance to sample the appetizers. Its not New Orleans food that blows you away, its more of the "down home" cooking in a very fabulous atmosphere. The decoration of the restaurant is beautiful ( at least I liked it). Great bar scene. Cannot comment on the main dishes yet.
