  1. Le "bleh." When we vistited, we largely ordered the most pedestrian dishes imaginable. You know, the ones that you'd assume that any Asian restaurant should knock out of the park? Are they using pasta dough for the steamed pork dumplings? Does anyone else think that these things are pierogi in disguise? The crab in the cream cheese and crab spring rolls was largely undetectable. Tarting it Up: The Pauli Moto Experience
  2. We visited recently and LOVED the cajeta and tres leches cake. Who'd a thunk it that the best part of a meal at a Mexican restaurant would be the dessert? Tres leches cake seems as if it could easily devolve into a dessert for wussies, but this isn't. It's interesting without the cloying sweetness that too many tres leches cakes (that I've made) have. Tarting it Up: Oyamel Review Warning - the link above contains many a photo and might be a little slow-loading.
  3. We live close enough to Elevation that it's just inexcusable not to visit. We posted a review of our experience here (link includes pix of our experience). We wrote pretty much the most glowing review you've ever read. Unfortunately we've never been to In n' Out, but we've been to Danny Meyers' Shake Shack in Manhattan a number of times - it felt to us that Elevation was emulating the vibe of Shake Shack...and doing it mighty well. To the earlier poster - we also wondered about the point of grinding Kobe-style beef into a hamburger; isn't this like grinding up a tender-but-relatively-flavorless filet mignon up? We loved it; it was a hamburger place that somehow made us leave feeling relatively virtuous calorically. Maybe that's just a testament to our powers of denial.
  4. I thought our server told us explicitly to eat the three items separately, but I could very well have misheard (mishearing such instructions is becoming my new specialty). In fact, looking back...hmmm...eating lobster reduction WITH something else certainly makes sense, doesn't it. I'll have to try it that way next time.
  5. Hello everyone! We ate in the Tasting Room last Thursday evening. Pics and review of our experience are available following the link. We should have reviewed the DR board more fully and ordered mixed drinks! Ah well, something to look forward to next time. Tarting It Up: Restaurant Eve Review
