Mrs. B
Last year I sent my father a gift of La Tripletta from the most wonderful Salumi in Seattle. I have also sent on a gift box of "coneys" as they were referred to in my house from Hofmann's. I was thinking of doing something similar along more cheesy lines from Artisanal this year but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions or advice. I would also love to know if anyone has a favorite citrus shipper for white grapefruit.
Heather
We've given the Dean & Deluca cheese of the month, and it was well received.

hillvalley
I've used Di Bruno Bros. in Philly with great success. Not local, but you're still supporting a small, family oriented store with kick ass cheese.

ktmoomau
There is a Virginia Wine of the Month Club that I keep thinking about getting my Father in Law, but he is a little Virginia obsessive. Hubby got his employees a beer of the month club from somewhere I will check where that they loved (I think it was mainly microbrews). We also send crabcakes or smith island cake from crabplace.com or The Sweet Shoppe in Crisfield (they have a website, but I forget what it is) to our grandparents. synaesthesia
I cannot personally recommend any of these, but they seem good. Bacon of the month: http://www.gratefulpalate.com/index.php?p=MultiOption_31&parent=Page_47 NY Times Wine Club: http://www.nytwineclub.com/ - My friend liked this. Fruit of the month club - particularly the mango and exotic fruit ones appeal to me: http://www.1-800-organicfruitofthemonthclub.com/exfrofmocl.html
Lola007
I highly recommend Harry and David's fruit-of-the-month club. I especially enjoyed the pears and cherries. http://www.harryanddavid.com/gifts/store/gift__10455_10002_shop-gifts-by-type_fruit-of-the-month-club-gifts?storeId=10455&mpe_id=23748&cm_sp=footerbanner-_-fb3-_-fsdfomc&intv_id=25745&evtype=CpgnClick&catalogId=10002&ddkey=http:ClickInfo P.S. Harry and David's offers 3-,6-, 9-, and 12-month options. P.P.S. And don't forget to order some Moose Munch.
Merry Mary
Bacon of the month at Grateful Palate is priced reasonably, but the shipping will kill you. I now send one sister the 4 pack sampler every year at Christmas instead. I am not allowed to give her anything else.
