Joe Riley
D.C. did, however, completely trounce Boston, which came in at #100: America's 100 drunkest cities Heck, I know that I'm doing MY part. I blame the economy. With a little bit of work, we could crack the top 10 easily.
DPop
37 seems so low, but looking at the list, DC is right where it should be; behind all the big college towns and cold cities where there is not much to do other than drink

Marion Barry already had the District up in the top 10 for crack But this list is based on deaths from alcoholic liver disease. So unless you actually expire at the bar at The Passenger (I figure a 40% chance), how do we know that you and Don aren't being counted towards, say, Arlington's numbers? Tweaked
Clearly the people who put together this list did not attend a DC United game.

Dave, you only give me a 40% chance of expiring at The Passenger? Heck, I'm COUNTING on it! The real question is, would anybody actually notice? DrXmus
Clearly the people who put together this list did not attend a DC United game. My ideal last moment is in a seat at a United game with a $7 pint of watery beer in hand. I'll add to the statistics...but I'll be happy.

Not to take this thread off into a macabre direction, but I wouldn't mind checking out at a baseball game on a pleasant summer night. Goodness knows, my beloved Nationals have nearly given me heart-attacks on enough occasions.
DaRiv18
Just to update, Washington DC is up to the 9th drunkest city. Progress!
darkstar965
We've been watching Ken Burns' "Prohibition" documentary (courtesy Netflix) over the past few weeks. This is interesting against that context. BTW, if you haven't seen it, it's a fascinating and very well done portrayal of the period from the history that led up to it to the legal/social/cultural effects and, finally, to repeal.
