Toogs Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Trying to make Chicago style dogs for a fantasy football draft. Can't locate this key ingredient. Anyone seen them anywhere? Note: I am looking for hot dog buns, not poppy seeds.
leleboo Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Have you checked Trader Joe's? The one in the West End used to have them, but I confess I haven't been in there in ages and ages.
The Hersch Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 You could make your own. Not that hard. Edit: Either I misread the original post, or something has changed. I thought the OP was looking for poppy-seed hot dog rolls, but it appears that just the poppy seeds are sought, to make hot dog rolls with. One place you will definitely find poppy seeds is Penzey's.
goodeats Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Might have seen them once at HT in Arlington. I would call your local HT to see.
saf Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I have bought them at Penzey's. I think I have also seen them at Yes!.
dcs Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 You might want to call Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe. They make hot dog rolls. I bet you could talk them into making you a batch with poppy seeds.
Toogs Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 Might have seen them once at HT in Arlington. I would call your local HT to see. Score! Thanks!
Genevieve Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Score! Thanks! Enjoy! I may have to get some of these buns too, for when my Chicago native mom comes over - she's always looking for Chicago-style hot dogs in the area, and would hot dogs in these buns (me too) even without the classic toppings.
Toogs Posted August 15, 2010 Author Posted August 15, 2010 Note, I went to my local HT not arlington, which is Fulton MD or whatever they are calling that area now
