Rhone1998
Can folks suggest some favorite English bitters (or other beers in that style) easily available retail in the DC area? I'm finding more and more my taste in beer is running to that style...bitter flavor, obviously, but also lighter carbonation and lower alcohol than seems to be the trend. (As an aside, is it just me, or are beer selections these days waaaaay heavily weighted toward high-alcohol Belgians?) Any suggestions on good brews to try, and where to find them? Tweaked
check out Rodman's way up on wisconsin...I have seen Fuller's and St. Peter's beer there.
TedE
My favorite in bottles is Coniston Bluebird. It's not the easiest to find, but several stores in the area carry it regularly. Cairo on 17th in Dupont and Chevy Chase in particular.
David Meyer
I see Fuller's London Pride in a number of places in Alexandria (Rick's, Unwined for sure, and I think even World Market). I also have seen Old Speckled Hen. Both are good, but I like London Pride a little better.
jparrott
Oliver Best Bitter from Pratt Street Ale House in Baltimore is a more-than-admirable competitor. It's not under 4% abv like an orthodox bitter, but it is under 5%. Occasionally on cask at Churchkey, always available in Charm City. It's about the only reason I ever even consider going to Orioles games anymore.
Jeff Heineman
You might wanna grab some Harviestoun's Bitter and Twisted, it's real good, although Coniston Bluebird is the best.

It was on cask at Commonwealth a few weeks ago as well.
Rhone1998
check out Rodman's way up on wisconsin...I have seen Fuller's and St. Peter's beer there. What an interesting store! I can't believe I hadn't been before. Alas, no bitters in stock when I went last week. Didn't ask about St. Peter's, but the guy there said they usually stock Fuller's but were just out. BayingHoundAleworks
I really like the "Bertha's Best Bitter" at Bertha's in Baltimore. It's brewed by Olivers. Climax has a good ESB, they are only sold in half gallon growlers.
