Antonio Burrell
I got a friend in town and wants to take his pops out to dinner. Dad likes prime rib but kiddo doesn't want to spring for dinner at The Prime Rib. Someplace kinda old school would be neat. Just a good slab of prime rib and Au jus. DonRocks
Sweetwater Tavern. To the best of my memory, I've never seen Prime Rib at Ray's The Steaks - does anyone have any information to the contrary? A few years ago, I would have sent you to Colvin Run Tavern. This is such a classic "hotel dish" - can anyone think of any low-end places in town that serve this? It's really bothering me that I can't think of more off the top of my head, but I can vouch for the version (two sizes) at Sweetwater Tavern. Make sure to call ahead and put your name on their (very efficient) list, and I recommend the one in Merrifield - only for certain dishes, but the prime rib is one of them. I suspect most of the Great American Restaurant Group restaurants have this (Mike's American Grill in Springfield, for example).
DanielK
Dunno if it's to late, but The Golden Bull up in Gaithersburg serves a very good prime rib. And since the average age of diners is probably in the 70s or 80s, it doesn't get any more old school...
Keithstg
Only works if you needed tonight, but Hunter's Head always has prime rib on special Sunday nights (with Yorkshire pudding).
u-bet!
If pops is still in town, I enjoyed the prime rib I had recently at Epic Smokehouse in Pentagon City. They offer three sizes.
