Badd Pizza, Buffalo Pizza and Wing Joint with 3 VA locations

Recommended Posts

I got takeout from their new McLean location, and my family had mixed reactions. I liked the half-sized meat lovers pizza, which came with the char pepperoni, chunks of meatball, and sausage. It has a thibk crust with a heft and stability that's different from the typical NY slice. The signature wings were excellent, and what I assume are legit examples of wings you'd get in Buffalo, NY, which is what I was hoping for. The wings had a crispyness that held up, and a good sauce, though the medium was not as spicy as I would have liked, and i'm not a big spicy foods guy. The other pizza (whole pie, pepperoni and onion) was fine and suffered, i think, because it was not cooked nearly as much as the half pie (the half was well done while the whole was rare). My wife and son did not like the pizza at all, so there's that. If I want pizza, I'll probably go somewhere else (Santini's Carnivoro is my go to), but I do think the wings are good enough that they're worth getting on their own.

We ordered from the Falls Church location a few months ago. By the time we got home about 25 minutes later, we found the pizza to be a little soft and soggy. The next day, we reheated it in the oven at 350 for about 10-15 minutes. Voila! The bottom was crisp with a light doughy interior. It was great. In the future, I think we'll pop it in the oven for a little while when we get home.

Thanks for the intel. We have a Badd Pizza nearby in South Riding -- I'll make sure to order the pizza well done.

I've ordered from the South Riding location a handful of times, and the results have been very good. If there's a better pizza place in our area (I live near Broadlands), I'd like to know.

Their "personal size" pizza is 16" x 6", btw, and the half is bigger than we will ever need. Wings are great as well.

I'm no expert on Buffalo style pizza, but the tomato sauce is sweeter than most sauces I'm familiar with, and the crust is somewhat similar to focaccia. I personally enjoy the cup and char pepperoni.

Thanks -- we had a zPizza for a while, then Manhattan Pizza bought z and turned the local z into a Manhattan, which is the very definition of mediocre. There's still a z in Gainesville, I think.

This is not a great pizza area. Marco's is fine for takeout. For a destination I guess Mellow Mushroom is our go to. For something a little different, this place in Old Ashburn is good: https://www.chicagospizzatwist.com/home. The twist is Indian flavors.

A bit out of the way but one that we have enjoyed is The Dons in Cascades. https://www.thedonspizza.com/

Most definitely worth a drive is Ciao in Centreville. http://ciao-osteria.com/

If you've lived here for a while, you might remember American Flatbread in Broadlands. Really good, but I think it was ahead of its time. Their frozen pies are available at Harris Teeter. https://americanflatbread.com/

Didn't they have two locations in the area at one point? I know they opened a place in NYC off of Canal Street that didn't last long. Seems as though they are down to three locations in Vermont. Perhaps the retail expansion was ahead of its time...

We only tried Broadlands but I think you are correct about another location.
