To report, I presented the in-laws with options including Jake's, Sello's, and Waterman's. They failed to surprise me and picked Waterman's. The fare was neither bad nor great. The hush puppies, which i could have easily enjoyed more of, were offset by the broiled flounder, which was rather dried out. My mother-in-law's piece of flounder did look like it had fared better. The crabcake was helped by the tarter sauce I requested, which was better than your standard mayo+relish. Broiled shrimp matched the flounder. Not as dry perhaps, but also somewhat less than remarkable. There was a time when I thought Waterman's was the best that I could find in OC. It is nice to believe that time has past!

I was in Columbus about 3 years ago for a Conference at the Convention center. After discovering it, I ate every meal that trip at the North Market. I cannot recommend at least visiting it highly enough. Most of my free time that trip was spent perusing the shelves at North Market Spices. The market included everything from Belgian Waffles, to perogies, BBQ chicken, Pho, and too some damn good bread as well. My greatest regret was that I did not have more meals to spend exploring the market!

Kline's Freeze is not related to the (apparently expanding) Dairy Bars around Harrisonburg. My grandfather started the Freeze in the 50's, after running as a Tasty Freeze for about 5 years. The restaurant is currently run by his daughter (my aunt) and her husband. Kline's Drive-In was opened by my grandfather sometime around 1960. It was run by my uncle for about 20 years, before being closed in 2007. There are no other related restaurants.

Came home from vacation this evening to find a bag of cucumbers and a bag of zucchini on the doorstep. Too worn out to do any real cooking, but some sauteed zucchini with garlic and pepper hit the spot. Accompanied by some foccacia from Red Truck Bakery that I picked up on the way home. My first time to the location in Marshall. Very nice! My wife came down with a cold this morning, but still got a cranberry-orange-walnut muffin that she said was the only thing that has remotely looked appealing to her today. Got a brownie for my daughter and stole part of it. Very impressive. Tasted like chocolate. Does not sound that impressive, until you stop to ask yourself how many brownies you have enjoyed that tasted like real, high quality, chocolate. If you get a chance, check it out!

Thanks for the sharing, everyone! I'm in Ocean City this week and my in-laws will be joining me on Saturday. They asked my wife and I to pick a restaraunt for dinner, and I suspect Sello's will fit the ticket beautifully. Unfortunately, the rest of the party are pretty timid diners, though I still hold out hope for my 6yo daughter. My wife needs alternatives to seafood, and my father-in-law would happily live on spaghetti and red sauce. In other news, as you drive north to Henlopen, Marty L., stop at the Delaware line and try a fish or shrimp taco from Grab & Go Taco. I know it has been panned elsewhere in this thread, but I have found excuses to stop there every time I have been in OC the past couple of years. The tacos i have had there have easily been the best ones I have had on this coast.

Hello everyone! I grew up outside of Manassas, and have spent time in Ohio, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. I have recently moved back to Virginia (Harrisonburg area) and enjoy bouncing around the area as time and resources permit. I grew up in my grandparents burger and ice cream shop, and love to explore food. I am not "in the business" but am a fan of the business. My greatest recent food experience has been finally joining a CSA (been thinking about it for years). And my greatest discovery through the CSA boxes has been garlic scapes. I'm tempted to grow garlic just for them!
