  1. I have to say, though I love hardshell crab, I don't care a bit for the softshell variety. It's mostly a texture thing. The not quite soft shell and the somewhat mushy interior is really off-putting to me.
  2. Welcome hm212. If you are not familiar, Montrose Park is uber kid friendly (at least when my kids were your kids ages they loved the place). There's typical tot-lot stuff but also all of Rock Creek to hike around and a boxwood maze for hide and seek. Perhaps we should try to round up a wiffle ball and bet set, perhaps a frisbee? I bet some of the older folks would join in too.
  3. for tony boudin try Tony Bourdain's Les Halles. Boudin au pommes two blood sausages, caramelized apples and homemade mashed potatoes, 17.50 http://www.leshalles.net/washington.php
  4. Yes you are and yes he is. eta: clarification b/c what I said before wasn't what I meant at all.
  5. I'm a follower in search of a leader to bring back the cheap eats get together (tm Hillvalley). How about Sabang in Wheaton for thrifty and tasty Indonesian food?
  6. I have just discovered the wonderfulness of Vietnamese subs - Bahn Mi. Oh my goodness! The crunchy vegetables, that perfumed meat, those spicy jalapenos moistend with a slightly sweet, somewhat tangy velvety smooth sauce!!! Had my first (and 2nd & third) from a market-carryout on Georgia Avenue (it has a back entrance from Wheaton Triangle - sorry don't have a name). They sell them for $2 a pop (buy 5 get 1 free) and I am addicted. Their pork belly looks pretty rightous too but we haven't tried it yet. Iwill be back.
  7. What does a National Special go for? How about the Southwestern?
  8. In my college days I enjoyed quite a few #5's, le club if memory serves, at the Bon Apetite (the Bone). Shogun do you know if they are still tasty? It is still there, isn't it?
  9. I have not been in a number of years but when I worked downtown I regularly enjoyed the hamburger for lunch at Sam & Harry's. Big, juicy and crusty on the outside. Nice buns too. I think I shall have to re-visit.
  10. It was a small carry-out diner-like place in Denver. The horror.
  11. Busboy Jr. was once served a BLT (his absolute favorite meal) with mustard - on untoasted bread. eeww!
  12. Ethiopian. It is not all "spicy hot" but it is spicy and filling and mmm good. 1 carryout entree w/sides is enough for two in my house and costs about $10 (less if it's veggie).
  13. Amazon is currently having a pretty sweet sale on Le Creuset. Even if your cupboard is full it might be worth taking a look to stock up for wedding presents. Thanks Hannah.
