    I too had eggs for dinner last night. I had just a simple pair of eggs fried in Kerry gold butter, served over jasmine rice topped off with furikake and torn cilantro.  Its was deelish.

    Oeufs en meurette (eggs poached in red wine), with duck confit, spinach, mushrooms, potatoes and sauce au poivre at Monsieur Benjamin in San Francisco

    It looks like I need to add San Francisco to my bucket list. Great shot, and I am certain the dish was incredible.

  5. To expand on eggs, what restaurant or casual eatery did you have the BEST egg dish ?

    Mine was at Citronelle back in 2007. The supplemental Osetra caviar course blew my mind.  Earlier that evening I had attended a book signing for Thomas Keller. I was hoping to snag a few words with the comparable Chef, but he was  surrounded by an entourage  to whom included Eric Ziebold.  Citizen was packed like commuters on a metro car on the Orange line, during morning rush hour. I took to plan B, and headed toward Georgetown.  I can not remember all the accoutrements to the dish, but I remember my face, and belly filled with pure joy.  I have yet to have a dish as amazing as that one was. I miss  Michel.

    Good Lort Baby Cheezus, dont get me started on maple syrup. I grew up in PA Dutch county, and they serve maple syrup along side scrapple and pancakes. Scrapple is  nearly more loved than bacon in these parts.  Haha, and I think its funny that the spell check does not acknowledge the spelling of scrapple.  I love the stuff.  I do miss a properly cooked omelet come to think of it.  The best omelet I have had is one made by @Tom Power served with mixed baby greens dressed with shallot vinaigrette. Good stuff.

    FYI- you guys rock. I am loving the feedback.

  9. My favorite all time egg dish is something my Mom made for us for dinner. She would start by browning scraps of fatty trimmings she would salvage from pork bones she would pick up from market. She would saute finely chopped shallots, and cook the pork till golden browned. She then would  froth a few eggs with dashes of fish sauce, then add in the browned pork. She would then fill a casserole dish, and place in a metal stacked steamer pot. It would then be served with Laotian sticky rice. This dish is my childhood. A tasty one at that...

    me too! buttered english muffin, fried egg in clarified buttah,  banana ketchup with spam was a staple in our house!

  12. I am surprised there isn't a forum solely dedicated to the incredible, edible Egg. Someone brought up what Tom Seisetma thinks about adding ketchup to eggs? Thoughts? Horrified? Genius? I want to know what everyone’s favorite preparation of eggs.  On and by the way, I am back in full force. I will be chiming in much more often. My goal for 2018 is to make the leaderboard.  Can it be done?

There aren't any Lao Food restaurants reviewed. In 2016 he wrote about a Chicago-transplant restaurant named Lao Sze Chuan, but it is Szechuan. There are, of course, other food writers for AZCentral, but I enjoy his insights.

    This is incredible. Thank you. You won't find this insight on Yelp.

    I highly recommend Rye Street Tavern’s RW Dinner Menu. I had the pleasure of dining there this past summer, and it was awesome. The space in unlike anything in Baltimore. The views are spectacular. The service, I may also add, was exceptional.

    Everything from the cocktails to the bib lettuces dressed with Green Goddess dressing to the fried chicken warrants that I may need to make another visit. Fortunately these area all available on the RW menu. But I hope a visit to Rye Street during this week will guarantee a second visit to Port Covington.

  15. Baltimore Restaurant Week  officially kicks off this Friday 1-12 and runs through 1-21.  As someone who used work during this madness, please be kind to your the service staff, and honor the reservation. I won't lecture you all on making multiple plans at several restaurants, but please be judicious in making your plans. A great deal of planning both for FOH as well as BOH goes into executing a great  restaurant week. Enjoy all that Baltimore has to offer, Hon!!

    UGH, not a fan of DCfoodporn. He is exactly the opposite of what I aspire to capture in my Instagram feed, and the fact that he likely will partner with the  insufferable FoodGod, is enough for me to discount any of his recommendations. Numbers of followers has become the new currency as to how restaurants value their exposure. I say the world is a better place with this #donrockwelldotcom instead. Just my 2 cents.

    Omakase is always a good choice  if your wallet can afford it. It is worth every bite. I usually always opt for it when I go for sushi, on account I like the watching the masters at work. It is the equivalent of dining at the Chef's table. Your meal looks amazing. I will need to add this spot the next time I am in the DMV.

  19. and so it begins. If you are on Instagram please add this hashtag to your postings so that we all can follow your posts. No matter what region of the US you reside, it doesn't matter. I started in the District, but have I have moved back to the town I grew up in, and plan on putting as much effort to expand DR.com.  We can create a guide that is more powerful, as well as influential as YELP.  Although it began here, its shall  include various areas of the country, if not world. And the topics are not limited to food. Use the tag for a new book you read, an awesome film you just saw, an art exhibition you just attended, a cookbook you just got, dinner you made, the list is endless. When I joined DR.com nearly 13 years ago, my mission was to meet like minded people who loved food as much as I do.   20. Back in 2005, I  arrived in DC hungry to meet like minded folks like myself. Little did I know nearly 13 years later this thread is still going strong. Now I’m looking to bridge the gap between DonRockwell.com and Instagram.

    I talk to Rocks briefly, and he gave  his blessing, or he says he’s interested in me leading the way. After all, all social media experiences a wave of popularity that phases in and out. But with all of the great content on Instagram, a lightbulb went off in my head. Why not link the two forums? New updates on Instagram has a feature where you can follow #hashtags. So the next time you post, add the hashtag #donrockwelldotcom. And if you happen to be on Instagram, let me know what your handle is, and Ill follow. 

    This is my first attempt at leading a social media campaign. Please be patient with me, and if you have any other suggestions on how to build momentum, I’m all ears. This too may build our Don Rockwell Community by adding members. I am hopefull.  So while introducing yourself, please let me know who you are on Instagram! Looking forward to following everyone’s rec’s!!
