MBK
My boss is planning a cocktail party for 40-50 people. She'd like it to be at a bar area of a restaurant within a couple of blocks of the JW Marriott. In the past she has held the event at Red Sage, but she feels it is too small. Any suggestions? MBK
Ceiba was my top recommendation to my boss, I think if they can handle that crowd it would be the perfect fit.

CrescentFresh
not the best but you could also look at the upstairs part of District Chophouse over on 7th. I like that spot. And the food and beer are decent, too.
goldenticket
Hotel Washington, rooftop.Interesting news....wonder what they'll do to/with the rooftop bar.The historic Hotel Washington will close at the end of the year to undergo extensive renovations and will reopen in 2009 as a sleek W Hotel. Owner Istithmar Hotels Washington has agreed to let Starwood Hotels & Resorts take over management of the hotel. Utah-based Gemstone Resorts International had been managing the property. The property will be Starwood Hotels & Resort's first W Hotel in Washington. The hotel is across the street from the White House in an Italian Renaissance revival building. Since the Hotel Washington opened in 1917, guests have included former presidents and vice presidents as well as movie stars such as John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe.
