flygirl
I was just told by a few friends (Not Quick Draw and AGM - over dinner at Tallulah) that there is a new neighborhood dining meet-n-greet going on here. I don't believe anyone has anything started for my neck of the woods... how many folks live out in Loudoun County? Any interest in trying to meet sometime for dinner out in the wilds of Loudoun? I know the Xmas season is quite hectic so it may not be the best time to start up but I thought I'd ask...
jparrott
I don't live there, but I work in Chantilly and drink at the Old Dominion Brewpub in Ashburn a fair amount. Perhaps there?
flygirl
that would definitely be preferable to Bonefish and the like! the bummer about this area (only for now, hopefully) is that there are so darn many chains.
bilrus
I'm in Ashburn. I'd be up for it. There are a lot of new places opening in Ashburn recently, some better than others from my own recon.
flygirl
sounds like we have a few, cool! This week and next are not great (poor timing to start a thread) but the actual week of Xmas isn't bad - I'll be here. (i.e. the 26th etc. - not NY Eve wkd as I'm out again but during the week is fine).

Ilaine
ok, so depending on sched we might have 5-6 people?would Old Dominion Brewery work for folks? We live near Fairfax City. Am contemplating starting a TMB for Fairfax City and points west, but it occurs to me that this thread would overlap? So far no actual TMB for Fairfax City, Burke, Fairfax Station, Chantilly or Centreville. Not that there's an overwhelming number of restaurants to try. For that matter, are Annandale, Seven Corners, Bailey's Crossroads, etc. in a TMB yet? We've never been to Old Dominion Brew Pub, but I thought I read that it isn't as good as it used to be?
MelGold
Having recently deserted food civilization for the techy corridor out here near Dulles, I have been exploring day by day for fun new places to grab lunch, but it's not as much fun to do so alone. Anyone nearby who would like meet me for a mid-day meal? Mel
bilrus
I have been working out this way for eight years now and have lunch out just about every day. I'm certainly available. Although the pickings aren't all that plentiful there are a few decent spots and probably a bunch I've never tried.

bilrus
I stumbled across this site - HerdonCuisine.com yesterday. bilrus
I was just thinking the same thing. I've been wanting to try some places I haven't been that I found on that HerdonCuisine site. Euro Bistro looks interesting to me - if German food can be interesting. So do Jamaica Jamaica and Warka. I've been craving Peruvian lately too, so Pollo Inka also sounds good to me. MelGold
Warka got the job done curbing the Ethiopian craving today at lunch. We ordered the vegetarian combo (curried lentils, split lentils, greens, cabbage, salad) and a the Kay Sega Wot (red pepper beef). While the seasoning was a tad on the light side and service was excruitatingly slow, it was a really nice meal for a measly $21 for two. I'm now waiting for the food coma to set in. bilrus
I'm now waiting for the food coma to set in. Mine's already arrived. Surprisingly un-scary place considering its location in the back of a business/industrial park. And things were well cooked - not overcooked - with only the typical berbere spiciness missing, especially in the beef. And it is much closer than U St. or Adams Morgan. Hannah
Haven't been in lately since it's just been too hot for goat curry, but they're still going strong - they hosted a Jamaican art show last weekend, and I can personally vouch for the fabulousness of their Christmas cakes (order early to avoid disappointment!)
