Purchased a Costco membership this past weekend. Nothing like bulk shopping to put you in touch with your own mortality. You think to yourself "hmm, I wonder if I'll finish this 55 gallon drum of anchovy paste before I die". Anyway, bought a 6 lb boneless rib roast. Rubbed it with s&p, ground coriander and mustard seeds, and seared it on the grill. Finished it with indirect heat. Came out freakin perfect.

That's the one. I work in Silver Spring, so options are limited, WAY limited. At least within easy walking distance on a HOT freakin day.

SoHo is the closest place to my office so I eat there all too often. They do make a decent red beans and rice though, so I'm chowing down on that along with a soggy eggroll.

Their wine list sucks and they serve it at the wrong temperature. Also, they have this crazy 90 minute seating policy unless you agree to be saved.

My sister just moved from Alexandria VA to Lusby (she jokes that she's a Lusbian now) MD way down near Solomon's. I'll need to visit of course, so I must find some decent places to eat nearby. I've tried a BBQ joint or two on the way down towards that area, but haven't found much else. Is there anything to recommend?

Head down to Capitol Hill and visit Eastern Market. There are a couple of bird vendors there and they could help you out. If you haven't been to this area of DC before, it's worth a visit for an out-of-towner.
