KMango
No pic 'cuz I have not been this year, but the sweet potato "fries" at the booth near Thor's Hammer just about bowl me over every time. Perhaps it's the contagiously festive air or the horseradish-spiked sauce, but man I could stand there all day and do nothing but power them down. mojoman
We had the turkey legs last year and thought them awful. Undercooked, tough, stringy.

zgast
The funnel fries aren't bad. The baked potatoes are my go to, though. Perhaps that tells you what you need to know. My wife is saying there's a crepe place there. In boca al lupo.
DanielK
I've never had the undercooked problem with the turkey legs - it's my go-to meal there, because how often do you get to gnaw on a smoked turkey leg? Other than that, pretend you're at any other fair, so bland fried foods (fish & chips, pork pockets, meat pies, fried mac & cheese, chicken strips) are probably fine, and anything you'd turn a critical cook's eye to (crabcakes, BBQ, fresh seafood) should be avoided. But really, it's all about having sweets, right?
MarkS
Leave the fare hungry and go to Lures in Crownsville, literally down the road. Lures is a neighborhood place with a tremendous beer selection as well as awesome pub food. As it's in Crownsville it tends to be local knowledge only.
Inox
I'll second the crepe stand--especially the 'Princess' crepe. But really, RenFaire is about meat--on bone & stick. Steak, sausage, pork chop, and bacon are all served on 'stakes' here. And you can find roughly-thematic fried fare like scotch eggs and fried pickles. But don't go there expecting any delicacies hidden away. This is a dusty place of crowds and day drinking where adults purchase swords they do not know how to use. Faire can be a lot of fun with the right friend group, but we generally approach food there only as a snack to hold us over.

We used to like to eat there when we lived not far away in Crofton.

DanielK
Pork pocket is BBQ pork in a pastry shell. The mac and cheese on a stick is breaded/fried mac&cheese nuggets on a skewer. Scotch egg is the traditional UK food of a hardboiled egg wrapped in ground sausage, breaded and deep fried. I don't remember what's in the knave sandwich. The seafood is exactly what you'd think. I haven't had the desire to do raw bar there.
Ericandblueboy
Porkchop on a stick - a pretty big chop, tender and well seasoned. The kids think it's too "spicy." Pretzel dogs - neither the pretzel wrapper nor the dogs were any good Mac 'n Cheese on a stick - pass Scotch Egg - dry. The kids also tried a key lime pie on a stick.
