edenman Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 In light of my mid-morning falafel hunt, I wanted to start this new topic to see what others people's great, ethnic sandwiches/cheap eats are? What is that unusual cheap ethnic delicacy that you could eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and still go out for at midnight? Nice. I'm also a sucker for the sandwiches at Tacos Pepitos II bakery in Adams Morgan. Delicious, and very reasonably priced.
cjsadler Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I think there are supposed to be some very good taco places in old town Gaithersburg. That's where Tacos Pepitos is. I haven't gotten around to trying any other taco places in old town yet.
porcupine Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Also try Tacos Pepitos Bakery on East Diamond, near Russell. Nice pork tacos. The only tables, though, are on the outside, so plan on carryout.
edenman Posted September 2, 2007 Author Posted September 2, 2007 The Adams Morgan location has a "This business is FOR SALE" sign out front The Lengua and Carnitas tacos were delicious, as ever. I am gonna have to get up there more often now so I can try to get my fix before it gets sold.
synaesthesia Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 The Adams Morgan location is currently still open. We had the horchata and passionfruit beverages today. Apparently passionfruit is in season, and the drink was DELICIOUS. The horchata is also very good, not as powdery as a number of the ones I have tried elsewhere in DC.
synaesthesia Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 The Adams Morgan location has a "This business is FOR SALE" sign out front Apparently it was already sold. They just kept up with the theme. So both are named plain ol' Tacos Pepito's Bakery. Just that the ownership is different.
DMcCabe Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Burrito de Carnitas at Mexican Pepito's Bakery in Adams Morgan. This place is great and has some really authentic Mexican food...although i think that the ownership has recently changed hands. Nevertheless, grab a mandarin jarritos and you've got a delicious lunch. Also, they have a cochinita taco that is comprable to the one at Oyamel, which I find to be spectacular.
bookluvingbabe Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Gaithersburg location looked to be closed when I drove by. For lease sign up. I hadn't been there in ages. But I always liked knowing it was there. Shame on me for not going more often.
DonRocks Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Nice. I'm also a sucker for the sandwiches at Tacos Pepitos II bakery in Adams Morgan. Delicious, and very reasonably priced. I'm not sure in which years this little Gaithersburg - Adams Morgan mini-chain shut down, but they both did. If anyone has any further information, please share it with us.
bookluvingbabe Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 For the Gaithersburg branch: Late 2009? Early 2010? I don't remember going more than once or twice and never with BL-1st grader when he was a wee one.
frogprince Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 The Adams Morgan branch of Tacos Pepitos was sold to new owners who renamed it Super Tacos but changed substantively little with the annoying exception being that they seldom have lengua because the new owners were trying to find a better supplier; this was several years ago though.

The Adams Morgan location is still Super Tacos, and from what I can tell, the 107 E. Diamond Ave. Suite B location in Gaithersburg is still for rent - that's an impossibly small-looking dive; the right side of the building is a Western Union outlet, and Suite B couldn't possibly be much more than a stove and about five feet of customer space inside. Suite B is between the two red poles on the left side of this shack:
