I have placed an order with Kongsgaard for a few bottles. I was just told they shipped via UPS, and told me to expect it in 7 to 10 days! When I wrote to complain about it, this was the response: "Due to local laws (DC permits only one bottle to be shipped directly to a consumer per month), we are forced to use the more time-consuming three-tier method to ship to your state. Orders are shipped via refrigerated truck to a local wholesaler, then a local retailer, and finally, via UPS, to you." Can anyone else confirm this claim that DC only allows one bottle per month to be shipped directly to a consumer? It sure sounds ridiculous to me.

I am interested in your new little Tacheria Nacional. I have been several times, and enjoy it (when the line is not too long). I am curious about the planning this little concept place took. How long was it from idea to reality? Any curves or detours in the process?

Get him the new Book about the Mondavi family called "The House of Mondavi". It is great. I also recomend "The Emperor of Wine" and "Wine and War".

I am surprised by the general support. Although I like to avoid live conversations in general, I don't use the service, myself. I thought I was saving the restaurants the additional fee, but from what Dino says, they prefer it, and it actually presents a savings to them. I prefer direct contact with the restaurants, especially if I have a special request.

What do you think of Open Table? Do you use the service? if so, why?

I tried the place last saturday, and found they didn't open till noon. I thought it was odd, and so did the others that walked away.

The best fries I have found in this city, are at the Steamship carry-out delli on the corner of Eye and 18th NW. This is a tiny sandwich shop that maks great sandwiches (and fries). The fries are the "Steak Fries" slab type, and they are double cooked in small batches, so they are usually piping hot.

I have tried Virginia. It is not listed in thier big bookof products. Montgomery County didn't have it on their shelf, and the clerk didn't know what I was talking about.

I have been looking for a Milk Chokolate Godiva Liquor product. I almost gave up looking for it, when I found a medium brown colored product from Godiva that is their cappuccino product. But checking the Godiva web site there is such a Milk chocolate product. Has anyone seen it at a retail store in our area?

I realized that after I sent off the message. The whole subject has got me more worked up than is healthy. It seems like a basic breach of the vendor buyer relationship.

I can't believe the responces to this topic. Itis outrageous behavior and should be illegal. It is a great comment on our congress that they are brave enought to deal with printing on receipts, but avoid restricting banks from helping themselves to our cash. Why can the system authorize deductions in seconds but take days to make the adjustment? The answer is obviosly profits are taken on the float. But, if I go to a vendor, am presented with a bill, pay the requested amount, and see that my account is billed for more than I signed to pay, I will complaint to the vendor that I transacted with. And I will demand he process the proper amount imedaitely. And it will get ugly.

The program seems to work OK for me, but I wish it had a go to the latest unread message feature.

Long term storage. I am thinking of around 100 bottles, hopefully two-temp.

Can anyone provide any insight or first hand experiences with Wine coolers/ refridgeratiors, cellars? Also any loacl vendor recomendations?
