Does anyone know if the Watergate Pastry shop is still in Business? It was great in the 80's.

I second Saveur. A beautiful magazine with very good reporting.

" have any advice on how to learn about wine" You might consider going to school to learn something you don't know. The Capital Wine School ( http://www.capitalwineschool.com/ ) is very good, and so is trhe washingtonWine academy ( http://www.washingtonwineacademy.com/ ).

The Spanish Wine Academy tried to hold some classes in this area last year. I believe this was the effort of Mr. Campo. I signed up for the classes in the spring, but they were cancelled and rescheduled in August. I was unavailable in August. Can anyone tell me if these classes were ever conducted in August?

Restaurants Failing to Accommodate Special Needs
kwhitney replied to Walrus's topic in News and Media
This can be simply solved by not returning. You don't have to argue or discuss it. Just spend your money elsewhere. I understand the policy, but if there is no flexibility, there will be consequences. -
The article missed a significant issue by not mentioned the extortion being employed by Yelp.

This is a pretty lame topic for an story.

There is nothing wrong with washing the pan with soap and water. You should avoid scrouring out the pan to remove burnt bits, but this is sometimes nessesary, also. Yes, you may have to reseason the pan form time to time.

Well, how did it go? Were you able to take advantage of any of the suggestions given here? And did you have a good time?

All of that and no mention of the signature dish of the place?

We don't think you do understand, when you keep asking the same question. This may help: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...8121402648.html

I've been at XM for 8 years, so I know how bad it is. We like to say we have equal access to the three major food groups: McDonald's, Wendy's, and Burger King. Literi's is a good option, and they are reliable, but they get busy. It is best to fax your order. There is an new Chicken place called Luciana's Cafe that is pretty good, and a good value. Rotisserie chicken roasted over a wood fire. They are at the corner of North capital and P St. NW. In the spring time, we have the new "On The Run" Foodmobile parked by our building. They offer a pretty good option. There is a basic coffee shop in the People's bulding, that is not great but offer an option. Five Guy's has been open for about a month, but I can't handle that food, myslef. Others here like it. I didn't like the sandwich offerings at the coffee shop in the ATF Building. The new Tacoria National (apologies for the poor spelling) is good and worth a walk. Otherwise you are left to the dimishing shops at and near Union station. For a special treat we take the subway in to MCI area.

Have you ever been to Litteri's or are you judging from "looks"?

I wouldl ove to see the "technological" improvement of left justifying the text. Graphic cuteness is a PITA to read.

Canyou imagine a more disgusting thought, a battered and deep fried sandwich? -
I hate it when I do that. Thanks for the correction.

Bon Apetit has been going down hill for years. Trendier, glitzier and just plain worse. I first noticed the decline two graphical format changes ago. I have been tried to decide whether to drop my subscription or not. I agree Saveur is a fine work. I like Cook's Illiustrated, also.

We just went there for our aniversary in early Feb. The place is great if you know what you want. I read these stupid comments as well before I went, and also was a bit nervous. I shouldn't have been, it was great.
