  1. I was thinking of having dinner at the RE Bar toinght. Will there be a problem for us to get seats around 7:30ish? Also, anyone have any recs as to what to order in the bar area? Thanks.
  2. D&M Wine out of San Fran has it for $26.99 a bottle and they ship if you live in an area that allows for delivery
  3. The worst cup since college? Wow, I don't love Starbucks but I have had a lot worse then them. What are some of your favorite places for coffee in the area?
  4. I think Tom (tall skinny guy) is the wine manager, Howard is the white-haired gentleman with a beard.
  5. Is Joe's crab shack still around? I know the one in Bethesda closed a couple of years ago.
  6. I agree that Pepe is a great resource at CW, but if you happen to be looking for Spanish wines seek out Howard.
  7. Speaking of Malbecs, Melipal Malbec (2003) is great. It normally retails around $15, but wineaccess just got a few cases and was selling it for $11.99. Definately worth it even with the shipping fee, but they may be out of it already.
  8. I receive "The List" email but don't even remember signing up for it. I find it occasionally useful.
  9. Sunday and Monday are "Burger Nights," with any burger on the menu going for $3.95 between 5 and 10PM
  10. Leftovers from last nights pickup from Joe's Noodle House. My damn mouth is on fire right now
  11. Yes, traditionally you should hold a wineglass by the stem...BUT remember that a wineglass should be only a quarter to a third full thus allowing room for your hands to be on the glass w/o warming its contents
  12. The Asiago crostini is very good as well as Tagliata di Manzo which is slices of New York steak served with a salsa verde on a bed of arugula with shaved Pecorino Toscano & olive oil.
  13. I have several sets of the Riedel "O" series stemless glasses. I like them because they are great in the dishwasher and I am too lazy to sit and hand scrub glasses. In fact I am drinking some Soave out of one right now
  14. chicken breasts stuffed with spinich, ricotta & mushrooms topped with a white wine and butter sauce
  15. I can confirm that the Red Heifer has closed as I live right across the street from it. Perhaps it was the outrageously priced steaks (even for Kosher ones) that led to its demise.
  16. a singular one can either be called tamal or tamale...either one is acceptable.
  17. Brought in dinner from Joes last night. Had the string beans in ginger sauce and spicy and tasty tofu w/ pork. When I called the woman asked if I wanted my tofu toned down a bit and I said no. My g/f had egg drop soup and steamed chicken and broccoli since she is so adventurous. The tofu was definitely a little sweat inducing but nothing that I couldn't handle. I guess Dean is right in that they will still tone it down no matter what you say until they get to know you.
  18. We went last Friday at 9-9:15ish and there was only about a 10 minute wait for a party of four. However, last call is at 10:30 I believe so you don't want to get there too late.
  19. I know that this is slightly off of the topic that I started in relation to DC wine stores, but as far as buying wine online I really like Wine Exchange...good prices and selection. I have them ship to my office since I live in Bethesda and you all know how shitty MD is when it comes to getting wine via mail.
  20. Living in Bethesda good Chinese food is very hard to find. Joes is one of three places that I still go to in the Beth/Rockville area. Some of my favorites are shreded radish w/ hot sauce, Fish Filet over Vegetables Szechuan Style, Baby Conch w/ Basil (a milder dish) & triple pepper chicken dry saute. Anyone have any other favorites that are worth mentioning?
  21. Is there a link to this? I went on Citypaper and couldn't find the article.
  22. I agree with you about Aldo. He is one of the few reasons I would venture that far down Lee Highway in to VA.
  23. Either Firefly or Dino for dinner tonight for us
